Did you know that JCPenny has...

This is something that is kind of new. They started this I believe 4 months ago, maybe less, it depends on how you count tomorrows event!. Either way, my kids have gone to every one since it started. Their badges are hanging on the fridge and I'm a tad bit lazy to go count. Tomorrow is the next Kids Activity thing. Every month they do a free kids craft that is relevant to that time period. The first one was a back to school picture frame, then they did back pack tags, Halloween treat bags... and tomorrow they are making an apron of some sort. Its been real fun going and they have been having some really decent sales. From 10$ off a purchase of 10$ to other neat sales. I've picked up some cute kids clothes and even stuff for me at very affordable prices. Final costs being under a dollar or even way less! So did you know JC penny is doing this? have your kids gone to any of these kids workshops? Are there any other places your kids enjoy doing crafts/activities at run by a store?

I don't have a Penneys here. I hope they continue to stay in business. That's great that they have activities for the kiddos. I bought my chiming wall clock from Pennys years ago.

@ramapo17 It can be a losing game at times when I shop on line. Especially for shoes. One company said they would not charge to return the stuff then I got charged for handling. Go figure.

@Daelii I think people prefer to do a lot of their shopping on line.

Me too. The one department store I worked had closed down and it seems so many of the older mall anchor stores look to be going on the decline. :(

Home Depot does something like this called Home Depot Kids Workshop. The kids create something from start to finish. It is usually on a Saturday in the month and the kids make it from start to finish and take it home. Some locations have it every month so check to see when it is. I think Lowes has something similar. I worked at Home Depot for 20 years and I use to get involved with this program and it was so much fun to watch the kids.

Thanks for sharing! I knew about the program because my kids love it. I didn't know it was around for 20 years! That's awesome!

@Daelii It was probably longer than 20 years as I worked there for 20 and they were doing it before I started. I loved seeing the little kids get so excited. I still have a few things here my grandsons made many years ago.

We donĀ“t have JC Penny in my country. But I find it is a clever idea for a store to do that.

It is a great marketing strategy to get people in the store. A few other stores here do it.

Really creative of them to do that. Sounds like something the kids would really enjoy doing! We have that every now and then in the malls here.

yes! They have a ton of things on clearance with additional mark downs. I'm hoping to do some christmas shopping there soon when hubby gets paid next. They had a ton of hair things on mark down to make them about 75 cents or so pet a set. Which is a ton for the price and regularly they are like ~15 or more a piece!

I heard a few months ago that J C Penny's wasn't doing so well. It is good that they are trying new and different things.

@Daelii ......Most companies are just out for the $$ and don't care about kids or the people.

Me too. I like the new and different things. They seem to be more engaging in customers. I really love the kids craft thing they are doing. You can easily get whatever online when buying clothes, but that doesn't give that extra fun thing for kids to experience. It also makes them a little nicer to go shopping with IMHO. Like a reward for being good!

I didn't know, but then we do not have JC Penney in the UK. I think I have been in that store once, though. (On my only trip to the US.)

That sounds like a fun thing for JC Penny to do. No, I didn't know about it. Maybe because I don't have any young children any more. I hope they have fun today.

They had a ton of fun at it. The people that run it are amazing and very good with kids. I usually have to bribe my kids with lunch to get them to want to leave or go on to the next thing planned on our outing!
