One music series done, one begins thusly. The theme for this countdown is my favorite side projects. We begin with #10: Tuatara.
Tuatara is a supergroup project started in 1996 by R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, Screaming Trees drummer/percussionist Barrett Martin, Luna bassist Justin Harwood, and Critters Buggin' saxophonist Skerik.
The band's original purpose was as a project looking for film work, before morphing into an actual band. By 2001, the group featured 11 members.
Tuatara has, for a project, longevity, having released nine albums thus far.
I've linked to a video of a live performance of my favorite Tuatara tune, "Saturday Night Church."
Enjoy!

interesting idea for a theme - the only side project I can think of is Bowie's Tin Machine band

Yes, you are right. Usually it's stuff they want to do that doesn't fit their main band.
