Hubby starts a new shift next week. No more worries about being late for work in the early mornings. He will work a shift from 7 pm until 5 am. He will work 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday) and he will have a 3 day weekend every weekend. I hope that the new shift will not be too taxing on him but I am thankful that I do not have to worry about waking up so early to get him off to work. Another good thing is that he will see the kids before they go to school and for a bit after they get home.
Not looking forward to me and the kids being alone all night long but I will deal with it. He has this entire week off of work. He will have the week of Christmas and the week of New Years off as well.
We are both just thankful that he still has a job!

There was a time when I thought I couldn't handle my husband working a night shift. If the question were to arise again I would encourage him to do so. The money is much better working third shift. He would also have some time during the day to do much needed chores or even going hunting for a little while.
You will get accustomed to him working at night and being alone. It will take time though. Great that he has so much time off during Christmas and New Years!

Oh that does stink he won’t be there at night while you guys are sleeping. Having a man in the house at night always makes me feel safer. I look forward to when my puppy is older and won’t have to stay in a crate at night so she can alert us if someone comes in. She will probably wake me up barking and chasing the cat though in the middle of the night lol

@shaggin I have gotten used to it. I love the shift he is on and so does he. I bet your pup is old enough now to alert you to intruders.

@Shellyann36 last night was the second night she slept outside her crate. She always seemed so sad having to go in the crate at night and she is full house broken now so I figured it was time to see how she does alone at night and she has done great!

I worked a graveyard shift for several years back when I graduated from college. I loved it, because I'm a night owl by nature, so it fit in well with my sleep schedule.

I would like his new shift, as I'm a night owl. Glad he will be able to spend time with the kids and home for the holidays.

I worked the 4 day week for many years. I always took one me day to recuperate and then my weekend. I hope it works out well for him.
