New laptop battery costs like 30% of the price of a new laptop???

My laptop is getting old, and the battery does not hold much charge (like 20 min working time). I shopped around for a new battery, and surprise! A new battery would cost 1/3 of the price of a new laptop. I don't think it's worth paying this price. There are generic batteries on the market, but I've heard they are really bad.

Unless your laptop is really expensive, that's what a genuine replacement battery will cost.

@ourlot I can understand this. But, dude... It's quite expensive.

@ourlot It's definitely not worth paying such a high price for it. Guess it's better to trade in and buy a new laptop. Generic batteries are not good and some may even damage your laptop.

Yes, but selling my old laptop won't bring me more than a couple of bucks. It's time to think about buying a new one.

I have had this problem with an old HP Compaq laptop. The battery was costing 120 Euros. I did not bought it and used the laptop only with its adapter at home.

Hm. I think I would save up and buy a new laptop. Then you could use your old for other things, as long as it's always plugged in.
