My client's mom's boyfriend's dog mistook me for a fire hydrant.

This recent memory came to me as I was pouring my second cup of coffee. I have no idea why. A few months ago, I was at a client's house, just back from cycling with my client (he's eight).
The child's mother's boyfriend has an "anxiety dog," a big male pit bull with whom I had made friends over several visits.
As we were discussing our ride with mom and boyfriend, my four legged buddy came over to me (I was still on my bike), tail wagging, got some head scratches, and then proceeded to raise his leg as if he was going to pee on my back tire.
I got outa there, dry, and we all laughed, except for the dog's owner. I chose to interpret as the dog expressing his affection for me, though others may see it differently.
I guess I'll end with a question: Do you tend to frame things in a positive light, if possible? Put differently, are you an optimist or a pessimist?

One of our cats has recently taken to peeing on my gym trainers whenever he manages to sneak into my wardrobe. Mrs WorDazza keeps trying to tell me it's because he hates me but I prefer to think that my bodily smell makes him think that it's a nice, calming, relaxing place to do his business.

@andriaperry Maybe he just thinks you have questionable taste in curtains and had no other way to tell you

I know I used to be really positive. I am not sure how I would classify myself anymore.

I am assuming your tire might have smelled of another animal, male dogs are quite notorious for wanting their scent to be the last one lol

Good that you got out of that situation. I am an optimist usually.

My first thought is always, "Don't it figure!!" If the poop is going to hit the fan, I can be assured I'll be standing in the way of the barrage @TheHorse . Would that be considered pessimistic?

There's that saying about children. I can't remember it exactly but it's stuff like: his children are monsters, yours are highly strung and mine need lots of attention because they're so intelligent. I think I'm an optimist mostly. Vince thinks I'm a pessimist sometimes because I don't get enthused about some crazy scheme of his - but I think I'm just being realistic. It's ll in the way you look at it I guess.

Ahem... you may want to change that wording from "Mike" to bike. I am 100% optimist

I love pit bulls!
Oh dear. I'm happy you were dry.
I would have taken that the other way. I tend to frame things negatively. Though in other people's situations I can put a positive spin on.

Your "client's mom's boyfriend's dog"? Sounds like an urban legend.

Hi,
Some people see the glass half full. Others see it half empty.
I believe it depends on the person’s general mood of the moment, as well as other things that may worry/concern them. If one is generally happy with life, in terms of personal and business success, then chances are high that they will take a more positive look, without, however, any guarantee for that.
There are other people who tend to adopt a more courageous approach, and laugh or smile, even in the worst of situations.
I think the second approach shows a stronger character, and I try to be this kind of person, without always achieving it.
