Actually COLOUR AND COLOR are correct. British spelling or Old english adds a "U" in color. Ex. Colour, Flavour, Humour. Actually the rule of the thumb is, if you are going to use Color or american english. be consistent with that :) Like, The flavor of that color. Not, The flavour of that color. hehehe esl teacher here :)
also. in computer terms, must people use colour (like using printers etc) than color.

both are correct.
colour = a british english.spelt in this way
colour = an americanized english which was introduced by them centuries ago while english and other races made it a common language of colonized america, they say there is no need of using double vowel in a word that conveys the meaning of a word with ending pronucciaton like 'aa'
so u get...honor(honour), misdemeanor(misdemeannour), color(colour), and many more.
even u get.....meter for metre, specter for spectre
program for programme and many more
if u like to study read dictionery of british english and americanized english.

What you say is correct except regarding 'program' and 'programme' these are both used in regular English. We say a computer program but at the theatre we buy a programme. Similarly, there are programmes on tele.

They're both correct but the thing is in general we use color. Colour in the other hand is a proper english. These two varieties of English are very similar. Modern British English is heavily influenced by American English. That's what I learned from my college school.

school teachers in the United States would want it spelled COLOR..if you use COLOUR..it would be marked a spelling error.
I always like the word shedule..in Canada and the UK they pronounce it far differently then us "Yanks"
same as MILAN in the city of MILAN, Michigan is not like in Milan, Italy..but the Ford MILAN is pronouned like in Europe..go figure
