How do you deal with the fear of the unknown? Fear of the unknown in the sense that today you wake up and think to yourself where will my life be in the next year or two. Will i be in the same place.

First you have to define fear it's more than just being afraid. Fear is an enemy that you must conquer. Do not let it control you if you do it will take away your peace, joy, happiness and even your safety. The best way to face the fear your talking about is to first don't ever look behind you, second stand still and enjoy the present, finally take one step because that first step even your next breath is your future. There's no need to worry or be afraid of where you are going to be a few years from now, because one you may not make it to see where you're going to be a few years from now plus we're never guaranteed that first step or even our next breath. Now if you're looking for peace get a Bible and read the Book of Romans. Look for the chapter that covers the armor of God. The Bible compares it to the armor of the Romans because their armor only covered the front and not the back. The reason for this is because the Romans never looked back, they stood still and always moved forward even though they knew that their next step or their next breath could be their last. However they still stood firm and strong and that's exactly what you must do. Don't worry about two or three years from now just be careful with the next step and breath you take and enjoy life. We aren't guaranteed anything in this life and it's far to short to worry about what's going to happen in our lives years from now. We have to many things in the present to take care of and enjoy to worry about what is going to happen in a couple years.

I have an anxiety disorder, and I constantly fear a catastrophe is about to happen. I just try to breath and go do the next thing I need to do. I just trust in God more than anything else.

Maybe it is best to focus on known instead of unknown. To think, if you can face your fear today, why be worried on the future?

I have confidence in my ability to cope with any change. I also have trust in humanity that the good outnumbers the bad. Life is a journey to be enjoyed with warts and all, it is more of an adventure - siva

I think the answer for this is optimism and the practice of living in the moment. we get to worry about what's coming in the future when we're shifting our focus to the future instead of the present. The future is important but you're not getting any nearer to your future without everything that can transpire in your present. So I guess, sometimes, living with spontaneity and constant contentment will really help. if it's difficult at first...well, I say fake it till you make it ;)
