One of my friends wanted to renovate his bathroom. He wanted to use tiles all over. I suggested him that you go for white tiles on walls and floor, there is no substitute of white and white tiles expand the light and make the room look bigger. He was more or less in agreement with me and used white tiles to renovate his bathroom.
If you have to renovate your bathroom, would you go for white tiles or you would like to use colored tiles?

i wouldn't want all white. it can be harsh when you're half-asleep but have to go to the toilet at 3am.
make sure the tiles on the floor are non-slip.

@hereandthere May be you are right. However, if you want to avoid such a situation, you could let a night bulb lit in the bathroom, so that you do not get puzzled by whiteness of the tiles.

I could not get you that white tiles could be harsh, if one is half asleep? . Of course, we should always install non slippery tiles on the floor.

@dpk262006 sometimes you have to wake up at night because you need to go to the toilet. you're stumbling and groggy because you were in the middle of deep sleep. and then when you go to the toilet, turn on the light, you squint and frown because it's too bright because the tiles are all white.

@magallon The dirt also accumulates on coloured tiles, however, the same is not easily visible in comparison to white colour tiles.

Tile is a pain to clean though. I would want a slab of one piece tile or marble only if thats a possible option. I don't like anything grout. :)

There are huge and big tiles also which could be used to cover floor/walls. Marble is also a good option, but it has its own drawbacks.

Everyone has different taste and choice, so there is nothing wrong if you like other light color for the tiles. There are off white shades and white tiles with some floral decoration.

I think I would go light yellow, it's so warm, but yes, lighter rather than darker

Light yellow is also fine. It means that you won't prefer white tiles in your bathroom?

@FayeHazel Yes, you are right that on white tiles the dirt would be clearly visible, therefore, it would be prudent to go for some light shades.

@dpk262006 Yeah, I rent right now, so I can't change the color. My way of thinking is that white would show up any small amount of scuff, dirt more easily.... always wanted to go yellow :-)

It means that when you go for renovation, you would like to change your white tiles with some light shades and that would be better in your opinion?

@kiran8 Yes, I can understand that when renovating our bathroom etc., we prefer a change in colour of tiles and other settings. I think off white tiles with pastel shade tiles will look soothing.

Yes, you are right that white colour reflects the light to a great extent and the place looks brighter with white shade. Which colour is there in your bathroom?

@lady1993 They are light colored white and peach tiles and you like them. It does not matter, if you did not select them.

@dpk262006 they are not plain tiles, they kind of have a cloudy design? I didn't pick them
They have a little bit of white and light peach color

I'd go for a slightly darker color, maybe light brown. I don't like an all-white bathroom.

What makes you not like the all white bathroom? Darker shades restrict the flow of light and room/bathroom looks narrower.

@dpk262006 Not very dark, just not very bright. I don't really care much about having a very spacious-looking bathroom actually.

You are the select few who prefer to have white tiles in your bathroom. It is a great idea to use white or colored towels in the bathroom, with white tiles in the background.

Even if the get dirty, we could clean those white tiles. Is not it. Tiles of other color also get dirty, but on dark tiles dust is not easily visible.

No doubt dust will be more visible on white tiles. It is not so that dirt does not gather on coloured tiles. One needs to do regular cleaning of tiles, irrespective of its colour, so that his bathroom looks shiny.

You are the second one who seems to be in favour of white tiles, as you could easily see dirt on white tiles and you could remove it easily.

I won't go for white tiles at all, especially for the bathrooms. It gets dirty quickly and is difficult to clean, and also stains once caught in the tiles wont go easily.

Yes, you are right that dirt gets accumulate on white tiles quickly than the colored tiles and it is not easy to clean. In colored tiles also, dirt gets accumulated but that is not easily visible.

I wouldn't go with white. If anything I would go with a tile that doesn't show dirt as much because you don't want to spend every day cleaning your bathroom because the white tiles are constantly showing dirt.

What is there in white tiles, which makes you feel uncomfortable?
