definitely a costa napkin

It's Black Friday and I'm in my usual spot supping my skinny latte whilst enjoying the view. The decorations in the shopping centre are sparkling {turned on as they were, last weekend} and the chatter of people is more than it usually is, on a saner Friday. There are a lot more older people around. Perhaps they think that they'll grab some bargains for the grandchildren's Christmas stockings. I worry that they may be disappointed. It's interesting to watch the people here. So many of them are glued to their phones as they walk along, eyes not watching where they're going. Someone upstairs is playing music on the public piano. It's not bad actually; it makes me wish I could play the piano. Perhaps I should learn? There are no Black Friday stickers in the Tesla car showroom thingy. Nor, as far as I can see, in the Apple Store. No fear though, Calvin Klein, Victoria's Secret and John Lewis are all prepared for the rush. As for me, I need to go and catch a bus. I'll be taking my latte with me.

I wonder why Americans and English people are calling "latte" something that, as a matter of fact, is not at all latte. Latte is simply MILK in Italian, we can have a caffelatte (half milk half coffee) or a latte macchiato (more milk with a bit of coffee). Latte only, it's something for the babies.

Misappropriation of Italian words is commonplace, unfortunately. I get annoyed every time I see a café offering 'paninis'

It's just another abbreviation that's come about because people are oh so busy they haven't even got time to order coffee properly.

I am living in a country right now where we don't have real Black Fridays, I do miss the Black Fridays we have in Canada...

They just seem a waste of a Friday to me. But they're no different to the traditional British Boxing Day sales after Christmas.

I'm thankful I don't need to go near any shops, too many people!

I'm going shopping today with Mumsy. Before I catch the train though I'm heading into town to visit my favourite shop before it gets too manic to move in it.

That's a pretty ostentatious Costa branch you've got there. Those chandeliers wouldn't look out of place in Liberace's gaff.

@Poppylicious Oh well, in that case the closest I'll get to seeing it for real is looking at your picture of it!!

It's in a posh shopping centre ... it rather lowered the tone of the place until they refurbished it. Riff-raff are advised to stay away.

I did my Black Friday shopping on Amazon and Belk.com. My uncle plays both the piano and organ.

Online shopping certainly beats getting crushed in the shops!

Looks pretty similar to the Costa i visit occasionally after the Saturday morning shop (or before it, depending on the time I get there!).
