Because of my job contract in the other project inside the school does not yet end and my time schedule is from 8 am to 5 pm they give me teaching over time after my work hours. Because the allowed overtime is 10 hours per week they divide it into 2 hours per day. But the problem is they have 4 sections in 3rd-year, so they decide to combine the 2 sections into one section so it becomes 2 sections with 2 hours class from Monday to Thursday and 1 hours per combined section on Friday. Because the student is not yet close to the other sections I think that it will be silent on their first day. Just like what I thought it happen, I feel like I was inside the library when I meet the first combined section A and C but it was a difference in other combined sections B and D who are very attentive.
Just like other instructors, my first day is long storytelling it was 2 hours for A and C who are only listening to me. They never ask any question I feel like they are only waiting for 2 hours and go home so I tell them any story from how I graduate and how I become a web expert. After 2 hours some students become interested but some other I think they won't care. I give them topics to be discussed at the next meeting and let them go home. Some interested students stay and request to have a copy of all books I have and the software I am using because while I am telling a story I show them my code editor that has a shortcut in typing HTML code and guide in other programming courses.
While the other section who are very attentive and well participating the section B-D our first day is an activity storytelling, because while I am talking students open their computer and request to have a copy of my code editor that I am showing to them. They also ask if I have a book guide in web design (HTML, CSS, and Javascript) our first topic, I am very happy to handle their section because every one of them is participating while I am worried about the other combined sections because I was thinking that they may be late on their lesson. I am now in excitement with worry, Is every teacher also have an experience like mine?

My mom is also a teacher in the Philippines, but I don't think I heard of her going on overtime or having combined sections and classes like you did. How many students did you end up handling during this time? Wouldn't it be a little less conducive for learning if a teacher handles a large group of students all at once?

@Rainey they are now 40+ per group, they said some other students are not attending the classes, I am expecting 50+ per group, it feels like I was handling a primary students here in Philippines, when I was in a primary and secondary school, every sections have more than 50 students per sections. but in college it is hard to teach more than 40 students. Their mind is not a kid anymore, they are now thinking for their future, so my strategy in my first day is I told them a story that make them focus in our subject. A story of real world that are waiting for them if they learn and excel in web programming. I know some of them are not listening but I am happy that many of them are excited to learn in my subject.
