Home remedies for cough?

My 2 year old has had a cold and has been left with a terrible dry cough. He has just coughed constantly for over an hour making himself vomit. Does anyone know any home remedies to give him some relief until we can get to dr. Cough bottle not helping at all

I mix lemon juice with honey and heat it a bit. A tablespoon each time you cough does wonders.
