Being middle aged, my definition of "pop" is completely different from the younger generation's definition. These are oldies but goodies, classics of the bygone era. Here's the next song on the countdown of my favorite pop standards. #7: The Wayward Wind - Gogi Grant Picky Wedia says this is a "western" song. Okay, if they say so. Actually, with Tex Ritter warbling it, it is indeed has that western feel to it. But the first version I ever heard was by two-hit wonder Gogi Grant, and her version is dynamic pop. Grant only had two hits: "Suddenly There's a Valley" and this one. "The Wayward Wind" hit #1 on the Billboard charts. Despite the heavy production (ah, that French horn), Grant's magnificent voice was on display in the classic song. Although I do love Tex Ritter (there's one of his songs on my 100 favorites list), I'll take her version of this terrific tune any day of the week. The Wayward Wind Written by Stanley Lebowsky and Herb Newman Recorded by Gogi Grant Released as a single, 1956 He was born the next of kin:
1956 song that went to # 1 in the US and #9 in the UK. Recorded by many others.

I just had to respond to your post. I learned both of those songs as soon as I heard them "way back when." I still know all the words to both songs. I have sung them many times. I will have to check your posts and find out what your other favorite songs are. If you would like to hear me sing "Crazy" by Patsy Cline, you can go to youtube. I recorded this song at karaoke one night last year when I was 75 years old. But, I have sung on stage for many years. I even sang on TV and with live bands when I was younger. And on my 50th High School Reunion I sang "Unchained Melody" with a live band that I had never sang with before. Unchained Melody is another one of my favorite songs. "Crazy" is one of my favorites to sing. I know I didn't do a PERFECT job with it. It was just a karaoke version but you might like it.

You do a fine, fine job of it! That’s a dangerous song for people to attempt (given the iconic nature of the song and Patsy Cline), but you really nailed it!!! Good job, thanks for sharing!!

@FourWalls Thank you very much. My voice has gotten weaker now, but I'm happy that my son put this song on youtube for me to share with others.

It sounds like it could have been used in a western. I get that kind of vibe from it, although I doubt if those lyrics would fit.

Never heard of that song into 60's and 70's music.
