Christmas Procrastination Discussion!

United States
December 7, 2017 5:50am CST
I bought 2 packages of Christmas cards before Thanksgiving this year. I probably have a box or 2 in my Christmas storage boxes that I bought on clearance last year too. The grand plan was to have them ready to mail the day before Thanksgiving. Yeah, that didn't happen. So, I set my sights on the week after Thanksgiving. Um, nope, still didn't happen. To this day, I have only mailed 4 cards and addressed a few more to send out. Guess I best get a move on before they become after Christmas cards. Do you procrastinate on getting cards out, or do you not send them at all?

I no longer send out cards, I just quit a few years ago. I used to sit down with a cup of coffee and do out all of my cards every year on Remembrance Day, which is Nov 11th. Then I'd put them into the mail the last week of November as I always wanted them to arrive for December 1st. And surprisingly enough I had a few people tell me that they didn't turn their calendars the year that I stopped sending them because they couldn't believe that the new month was there and our card wasn't.

We would always receive our first card the day after Thanksgiving from my dear departed cousin Diana. I miss receiving those cards.

I sent off about 35 yesterday. I start on them early in December usually. I have enough cards for next year too. I pick them up on sale usually.

I have often bought cards in the past that were on clearance. Now I have to locate them. I usually put them in with the Christmas decorations. Haven't dug through them yet. I made out 2 more cards last night and need to get a move on if I am going to get them out by this weekend.

I stopped awhile ago with the price of stamps and I figure the ones I would care enough to send a card to I see and will tell them Merry Christmas to their face or on messages.

The cost of stamps has gone up over the years. There was a time when I sent out almost 75-100 cards and received them in return. Now I get a handful. To date we only have 3 cards on display. One is from my husband's employer.

@Ithink I have them on display in the dining room. I wrote out a few more yesterday and plan on getting them in today's mail.

@ElusiveButterfly I know that one, but then I don't send them out anymore. I used to like to take them thou and put them up along the round archway in the living room.

I STILL haven't sent out Christmas cards, they're all made off and I have yet to send them out. I only send out a handful to the people who live out of town but I am really horrible at having them sent out. I still have to send out stuff that I was supposed to send like a year ago. I am horrible with this kind of thing, usually, I manage to send them out and they get to who they are meant to go to like a few days before Christmas lol.

Years ago I was so well organized that I had a list with addresses ready for the following year. All that sent cards the previous year were on the list. I would still send one to those that I didn't receive a card from too.

A few years back I didn't send out any and felt a little sad about it. This year I am trying, but am really slow at it. I should have sat down at the table before Thanksgiving and started them. Oh well, best laid plans of mice and men so they say.

I still prefer the handwritten Christmas cards over the e-cards. It feels more personal.
