80s new wave mania: "So Alive" Love and Rockets (1989)

Love and Rockets was founded in 1986 by former Bauhaus members Daniel Ash (vocals, guitar), David O. (bass) and Kevin Haskins (drums). After Bauhaus broke up, Ash and Haskins were with Tones on Tail best known for the 1984 single “Go!” The band took its name from the Hernandez Bros. comic series. You might expect Love and Rockets to possess a darker tone considering the goth roots of Bauhaus but the band’s sound morphed into more mainstream pop and punk. From the self titled album, “So Alive” is simply about being turned on by a hot babe and proved the band’s biggest hit reaching Billboard #3. Love and Rockets was far more popular in the UK. Their only other US charted single was #89 “No Big Deal.” Love and Rockets disbanded in 1999.

I like this song. My daughter was a big Bauhaus fan, which I was not, but I liked the Love and Rockets songs I heard.
