I have recently made up my mind after heavy deliberation I have chosen to go into law enforcement. I am now looking into what departments are hiring in Arizona right now the only one that is hiring, and is close to where I live is Phoenix pd. I knew somebody that was on the force and she retired, but was happy to be in law enforcement, so in a sense is it bad to go into a department where you knew somebody that worked there? I am also wanting to go into law enforcement, because she inspired me with her sister to follow my dreams and do what I want to do. I support that same friend and her sister with their dreams, even though we don't talk much anymore nowadays, but if they read this thank-you for supporting me and in turn I support you and your sister, do what you want to do and hope one day we can talk again.

First, take some time and visit that friend! It will make both your days! My boyfriend, Bill retired from law enforcement here in California. He is the sweetest man I've ever met!! Thinking about it maybe I can get him to allow me to write about some of his experiences and maybe get the book published. Oops, sorry, this is about you! I think its great if law enforcement is what you really want to do in your heart of hearts. Just keep in mind that sometimes it won't be easy - like when there's traffic accidents, bad ones.
If you have a local community college start taking law enforcement classes, you'll need them anyhow before you enter the academy. It will give you some insight into the work.
My father was in law enforcement, he worked as a correctional officer here in California. The inmates adored him as he treated them as "people" rather than trash. He always showed them respect. I remember when father had his open heart surgery we received a bill from the hospital a few weeks later. It was for $15,000 to the blood used during the surgery. We could either pay the bill or come up with 150 units lot blood. We were frantic of course, we didn't have that kind of money nor that kind of blood laying around in the refrigerator. Mom happened to mention it to one of his friends from the prison and let the matter drop as we tried to figure out where to get the money. About a week later we received a letter from the hospital informing us that our account was paid in full. That 375 units of blood had been given in my father's name, by...the prisoners at the prison where my father had worked. The prisoners organized the blood drive on their own and had more of the men who wanted to donate but there just wasn't enough time to accommodate all of them.
Anyhow there are good sides and bad sides to law enforcement. Talk to your friends about it! Make that one day soon!!!
