Waking Up to Winter!

Finally!
For the first time we have the promised snow!
Almost 6 inches, 15 cm of the fluffy white stuff.
I just delivered the princess to school. All of the busses were running late, so I wondered if the busses had been cancelled. No, just late.
Minute after arriving home the wind picked up...the view you see in the photograph was gone...it was a white...white world.

I like them much better when I'm home and don't need to go anywhere.

@Morleyhunt We had the same, a very cold and windy night. This morning is sunny and you can see the crystal of ice shining.

Our temperatures are supposed to stay cold for a few days. Tonight it is supposed to get really windy. That will mean drifting snow..

It looked very pretty this morning. Now the wind has knocked most of it off the trees. It's still pretty but. To quite as postcardy.

That is beautiful! Sure glad it's not snowing in NC. So far, anyway.

It is beautiful. It's not snowing at the moment, but it is starting to blow around. That will make the evening commute dangerous.

When I got to Sandra's school. One of the busses had arrived yet. The first one was ten minutes late...I didn't stick around once the busses began to arrive.

So the buses would also be running slow in such snow! And kids would be going to school all packed in layers of warm clothes?

@Morleyhunt yes just like we predominantly face summers- and extreme summers at times in many Indian cities and villages, one has to adopt to cold climate conditions in Canada.

The snow may slow us down, but it rarely stops everything.
I explain to complainers....we live in Canada....it's winter.....we have to expect these things

Well, that certainly is a lot of snow. Living in London we hardly get any snow although last weekend was a unique event in that it was snowing throughout the day and began to settle by evening. I love snow and it does look really nice, kind of a natural painting of the environment!

It's been snowing on and off again this morning. I just came in from a brisk walk in the snow. The roads are clear though so the walk wasn't a problem. We don't have sidewalks where I live so K just walk on the edge of the road.

We haven't had enough snow for schools to be delayed....although the busses were running a bit late.

@Morleyhunt There's talk of winter heading our way this coming Friday. I have to be on the road that day, too. Last winter oh boy on last winter. Eighty days of snow and ice on the ground. Worst ever. Thanks for your well wishes.

Most weather systems move west to east...so you should be safe. They are calling this weather system an Alberta Clipper....I notice though that the Maritimes ar e getting this weather in a day or so and they are blaming the Great Lakes.

If it's packing snow I might...although, Sandra has gone home so I'd be building it by myself.

As long as I can stay home, I don't mind watching it. I made it in and out twice this morning.

We don't want that much snow even if and when it's promised. We probably have about two inches at present. But, it is cold and somewhat windy. The other day it drizzled and froze on the roads, that was Sunday night. Some people expected schools to be closed, but only the one that is in the country closed down every other one was open and the kids that take busses made it in fine too.

No busses or schools were cancelled. Looking out of the window I can see the snow clouds hanging over the lake. A bit of a breeze from the south west and we'll get more snow.
