Do You Still Eat A Packaged Cereal For Breakfast Or Something Else?

I saw an article that Kellogg's is laying off 1,000 workers and closing distribution centres .
They are also launching an ad campaign to get Millennials back on cereal using "Lucky Charms" as the draw.
They also say 23 % of boomers eat packaged cereal daily vs. 17 % of millennials.
I know I don't eat a packaged breakfast cereal nearly as often as I used to , but what about each of you??

Packaged breakfast cereal is one of the most overpriced, sugar-laden, nutritionally barren products out there. I'm not surprised that millennials are bypassing it in favor of something else. You get more bang for your buck from a dozen eggs than a box of Lucky Charms.

@spiderdust when you consider I just paid 57 cents per dozen for eggs and cereal usually costs at least $2.59 you have just said a mouthful. I try to have cereal on hand when the grandkids come, but then I bake up a variety of muffins, with healthy stuff. They prefer the muffins.

@GardenGerty You can make a lot of muffins for the price of a box of cereal!

I gave up those cereals a long time ago and recently I gave up breakfast as I'm not hungry in the morning. I was eating because everyone was saying how important breakfast is but if I'm not hungry then it is not important for me. In fact it is 3:30 and I will eat in a few minutes. I am starting to get hungry a bit.

@Luap1050 I agree with you. We need to do what keeps us healthy. However, the boxed cereals are not the best foods for one that wants to stay healthy.

@Luap1050 I am but I dont. I don't like the texture. The only time I use oatmeal is in my no bake cookies.

Now that you mention it I cannot remember the last time I had a packaged cereal, it is definitely going back years. I remember the days when I used to dive into a bowl of sugar puffs or Frosties or even Cornflakes. Those products are still around, I think. No, now I have taken a completely new approach and I have two boiled eggs every morning and that is a routine that I have stuck to for some time now.
Are cheerios still around? I think it might be nice to try some of those with a bowl of ice cold milk!

My kids still eat Frosties/Co-co pops/Rice Crispies!. It is really convenient to give them cereals just before school!

I always have some Trader Joe's cork flakes or imitation Honey Nut Cheerios around. But I wouldn't mind eating fun stuff like Trix or Lucky Charms, so long as they're not all "healthy" and tasteless now. Give me my chemicals!

My afternoon snack is usually cheerios&milk. I'm a diabetic, for I need one carb/one protein food. No, I don't eat other cold, prepared cereals any more. Oatmeal is a better choice, for me.

I have lots of Cheerios, cause oats are supposed to be good for your heart. I have them, yes, but seldom eat them. I am more likely to eat my own homemade granola. My favorite breakfast is eggs scrambled with veggies.

The package cereal has to much sugar. I have the same thing everyday. I have a small glass of juice with apple cider vinegar in it, 1 hard boiled egg, and 2 pieces of garlic toast. The vinegar helps keep my sugar in control and the garlic keeps the blood pressure down.

I enjoy cheerios. Usually three times a week. Surprised their popularity has waned?

Not really..
I avoid all of general mills cereal because they include paint thinner in the ingredients lists (some other foods do to, and I avoid them as well).
I don't want to feed my kids something that if they ate it on their own I'd have to call poison control.
So yes, I do keep some cereals in the house that are tasty and the kids enjoy (without paint thinner).. they eat it only on like really bad days. people are sick, dont have a lot of morning time before heading out, etc.
I'd rather make eggs, bacon, muffins, etc before I give them cereal.
