Cold sores! The most irritating thing in the world! How do you cope?

Oh well, finally I have something to discuss! I woke up this morning and when I made my way to the kitchen in order to have my first cup of tea of the day I was instantly reminded that I had a couple of pests bugging me! Cold sores! Cold sores are a real nuisance and I have two of them, one on each corner of the mouth. It is always pretty bad when the time arrives to eat something and you have to open your mouth and those two sores start screaming as the skin stretches and then a fresh wound opens. You have to eat and you have to drink so I try and ignore the pain. I have been using some kind of lip therapy which is like a form of lip balm and you rub it over the sores and it does the trick, for a short time at least and then the same cycle repeats itself: irritating pain. How do you deal with cold sores? They are like two devils that you just want to assassinate! . I have had these for two days straight and they are not disappearing anytime soon!

Avoid taking any kind of spicy or sour food for the time being. Also, avoid anything salty, if possible.

Thanks for that information. Yes, it's day three and there's no change. Guess my body is sending out slow healing signals!

@AndrewFreyne I think such soars should disappear automatically after few days. If soar persists, it would be better to take the advice of a Doctor.

Thanks, that's what I'm hoping that it disappears shortly. For the present I am still having to stretch my mouth when I try to eat and there is a little pain there! Such is life!

I hate cold sores too. I've used baking soda, it helps relieve the irritation and helps to dry the sores. You can put a few drops of water onto the baking soda so it would form a paste and then dab it on the affected spots.

That's a good tip. Many thanks. It is weird how they suddenly appear like that though!

I hate cold sores. Sometimes I treat with an essential oil blend called Olbas. It burns a bit but helps them go away. I've heard Cinnamon, but I guess that really hurts. Good luck getting rid of them

Thanks Faye, guess this is a temporary milestone that I am going through. Hopefully all will be well within the next few days!
