Thanksgiving & Giving Thanks!

I had a very hard situation happen over the Thanksgiving holiday while we were visiting at my Sons in NC. My husband has not touched a drop of alcohol in 23years. Well he was with a group that were in the game room and everyone else was drinking. Well I went to the game room and he asked me if I wanted a beer, I'm like "NO"! He says well I am and immediately fear struck my heart and I was so caught off guard as I used to be married to an alcoholic for 11 years and it was hell. When I met my current husband he and I were both drinking. I went into a rehab early on in our relationship and got off the alcohol, well I called him from the rehab and told him I could not live with someone who drinks. So with God's help he gave it up and that was the end of it until that day, it was the day after Thanksgiving. I said to him really after 23 years and he motioned me by his hand to leave him alone. So I went downstairs and sat at the table there were 3 people there the only one I remember was my Mother. And someone asked what was wrong. At first I was quiet and didn't say anything. Then I was like, well my husband who hasn't touched a drop of alcohol in 23 years is drinking! Then I went back up to the game room and I grabbed his cup and tried to hide it and realized that was pointless and put it back!
Then low and behold a miracle happened "Dinner was ready"! Everyone stopped what they were doing and went to eat dinner. I thank God for the dinner bell so to speak. That was the end of the drinking. After dinner a bunch of us played rummy and my husband was watching tv.
I realized days after the event that normally I would have completely lost it and ended up in a psych ward. God helped me to face a situation without losing it. We went home and he hasn't touched a drop thanks be to God.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? How did you handle it?

Yes I don't mind but he's not touched a drop since then and I did finally approach him about it and he said he didn't plan on drinking. What a relief I felt a ton of weight off my shoulders I tell you. I was trying to just leave it in God's hands!

I'm so sorry! I don't really know what its like to deal with that kind of an addiction. My grandmother drank a ton...so she had good and bad days.
I have had an occasional drink at a wedding and new years. But that's it!
I'm glad it didn't get violent and dinner bell came on time!
I don't know what I would have done. I'm against smoking and my husband smokes. He didn't when we met and he knows I hate the smell and taste.
Its his choice. He wants to smoke away 4 minutes off his life with every CIG its his life to give up.
