Some parents were very friendly to their children.give their children such a freedom to share and call them with their names.even some children call grandparents with names instead of calling grandma.I personally don't like this how much we are close to them also we have to respect them and should love them and should take care of them like small kids.might be we have close bonding that should not cross limits like calling with names.I don't like calling parents by their names. what you think of this friends?.are you so close enough to your parents and grandparents calling by their names.?

there should always be a 'child' in us, even the elders. we called our grandparents as 'lolo/lola' while my son called my parents as 'mamang baket and papang lakay'.

I too don't like this and for sure my parents and my grandparents would get angry if I will do that.

yeah its very disrespectful if we do that.I don't like that at all.that much over-friendliness shouldn't be given to children

@Icydoll You're right..That's why I teach my kids about it. Most people here don't call their parents and their grandparents on their names. Its a big deal here ...respect the elders is a must.

My grandparents passed away, I still have my mom alive and I should never call her with her first name. This is a lack of respect.

My grandparents passed away when I was a kid. I call them grandpa/grandma. I call my parents dad/mom. The rest, even my boss/clients, I call them by their first names.

I believe respect for elders is common in all culture east or west. Although I have seen in some American movies children calling their parents by their first name, I don't think this is the normal practice.
