Anxiety..Depression...Stress

I am not going to sugar coat it. I deal with these three dynamics every single day of my life. Most of the people are oblivious to the fact that I am. They just go about their business and think that I am fine. Do I say I am fine? Sure just so I don't depress those around me. I am taking prescribed medications, and most of the time it is all under control. But here lately, I have felt like I am slipping back into the depression. Anyone else have these issues? How do you deal?

First, hi, welcome to myLot! There are plenty of people here who are “out of the closet” as far as being diagnosed with depression. It’s not a crime or a sin, and it’s definitely not a joke. I’ve had very severe bouts of it. Thank God, it’s under control now. I’m on medication (Prozac), and I pray and meditate daily. I also try to get in some walking every day. It’s eased up considerably thanks to those measures. Now I “realize,” mentally, that I’m “feeling down,” but I don’t have that awful physical pain that accompanies depression to go along with it. The holidays are the time of year when people who don’t have clinical depression can feel bad. They call it “seasonal affective disorder.” Plus, the holidays — the stress and anxiety of dealing with them — can worsen depression. If you feel worse call your doctor or psychologist. You’re not alone!

I have started talking to a therapist about my issues. Hoping that maybe it will help unload some of the tension that is there. Thank you and it is good to know I am not alone!

I guess we all have these in varying degrees . I often get very stressed and my BP shoots up to abnormal levels . Now I am taking medication yo keep it under control , also am.very careful with my exercise routine , which has definitely helped me ..it is difficult to pin point exactly how stress builds up . Basically it is because of many different factors from what I feel..

@ChaoticLady79 The last time I had high BP was when I had issues with my job as well as family related ones. I was advised meditation by the doctor and I did join a short term course which was very helpful but you need to do it regularly. I am now planning to join a meditation/ yoga camp for a week so that I learn to practice mediation at home , at my own convenience.

Exactly there are way too many ways to pinpoint and try to figure out where all comes from. I do know with mine it has a lot to do with my job. There is some from home too but it's not as high of a degree as the job issues.

People have depressions sometimes that are work related, relationship problems or just when we get "life sucks" moods. Not to belittle your problem because it is very real to you but it seems in the US there is a pill for every illness. It's a society that is over-medicated. Today there are more than 200 classified mental disorder. Even children are going to psychiatrists and given medication for "mental illness" whereas during our generation we would consider an overactive child as part of growing up. When I am depressed I take up physical activities. workout in the gym or running. Listening to "happy" or "inspirational" music also helps. For those who believe in God, their faith is a strong support. Have you also consider joining support groups with similar problems?

@ChaoticLady79 _I have 10 grandchildren, 3 who are living with me. They're teenagers now but I had fun taking care of them when they were much younger. Their vitality and how they look at the world in wonder and innocence somehow rubs off me. Playtime and being around children is a great form of "medication" for depressive thoughts.

I do agree that there are overly medicated people in this society. Kids should not be medicated for being overactive. They are kids...why can't they be kids? When my daughter was a toddler, she made up for two or three kids. Do I sound delusional? Maybe, but it is true! But did I take her to the Dr and say, oh she is overactive she needs to calm down. Please give her med? No way. Because I knew she was just very very active and would grow out of it, which she did. When I am feeling down and am able to do so, I listen to my music. I have started trying to walk every day at lunch during the weekdays so I can lessen the anxiety and stress. It is all helping. But yes, sometimes it is difficult not to feel down.

Yes, in fact. With medications that have been used for a long period of time can wear off. Sometimes the dosage needs to be increased or you need a new prescription entirely. it's very hard to cope with, and irritating to deal with medication changes but in the long run it is worth looking into for your mental health. Another thing could be a trigger, something that causes you to slip, regardless of the medication. I hope you locate the problem and find your solution. Best of luck to you and wishing things get easier for you.

@ChaoticLady79 That sounds good, I hope your visit goes well. I am sorry that you're going through all of this but I want you to know that you are never alone. If you ever need someone to talk to don't hesitate to message me. I'll always be here. I know that won't FIX anything, but it might help get some weight off of your shoulders just from being able to talk about it with someone who understands...even if it's not me, you do have therapy. It's always good to have a steady place to set your feet for a little while.

Thanks so much. At my next doctor appointment I'm going to ask if she can up my dosage If things do not improve by the time I return. I am going to continue exercise and therapy because I believe it all is helping.

At end of the year time like this, I do feel lethargic more than usual. I have been using the time to just sleep or doing nothing (ignoring all of my hobbies which I used to be passionate about. Facing another year similar to this year seems too tiring, yet life has to go on. I will get out of this mood soon, I must!). All the best .

I am sorry to hear that. It is tough knowing that another year has passed and a new year is on the horizon. Does it make you feel like, okay, what is going to hit next? Like dread of thinking that it won't get better? That is how I feel sometimes. I will tell myself the next year has to be better, then toward the end of that year I am like um yeah right! Hang in there! I am here and know what you mean!!

@ChaoticLady79 Have to admit, this time last year was better. And this time two years ago was good too. It just this year that too many things seemed to go downhill ( perhaps I am just older, and THAT depresses me extra?).

Stress. Anxiety. Depression. SAD I do have them and I struggle everyday with it. I thought I'm all alone. I'm stress for not making enough money. I'm anxious for money. I'm depress for my failures. I try to be positive and busy myself to forget about it

My special friend suffers from clinical depression. He usually has this negative feelings on most days. I try to be more patient with him, exert efforts to make him happy and be there for him during his happy and not so happy days.

I have a lot of issues with anxiety and depression. I'll be doing fine then suddenly start feeling it come back and struggle. Mine always gets worse because I try to hide it and not really tell anyone and it made me wanna avoid everyone. I started telling my fiance when it started getting bad and that helped a bit. Something I do is things that make me happy and do that when it starts getting bad. For me I love christmas movies and christmas decorations so when it starts getting bad I'll watch christmas movies and my fiance has it where there is always something christmas up year round to help when it gets bad to help make me feel better. Other times i just have to suffer through it til it passes

Good that your fiance is caring about yourr feelings. Christmas stuff does help! I have some vintage Christmas lights that play Christmas songs I listen to any time of the year. They stay up year round for that purpose.

My depression has stemmed from mainly from my job. I would say it is a mild depression at times but it can get downright so bad I have to force myself to go.

Stress can be caused by horrible events, occasions which challenge our cutoff points, and also interior clashes. At the point when push is over the top, it brings about one of four responses - anxiety, apathy and depression, anger and aggression and cognitive impairment. One can look at for help.
