Belated Week 8

I completely forgot to post last Friday, but I did get weighed and I was exactly the same as the week before, 13 stone 7lbs. Then I got weighed again on Sunday and I was 13 stone 11lbs So I decided to follow the advice in Bright Line Eating, a book recommended to me by @AmbiePam , and by this morning I had lost 8lbs and I now weigh 13 stone 3lbs (Especially for @topffer 8lbs = just over 3.6 kilos ) I cut out sugar and flour, I've been having three meals a day (all vegan whole foods) and two snacks (one piece of fruit each time) and I've followed the advice in the book and written down my food for the next day each night, and then I've committed to it - my way of doing this is to write down my commitment, but anyone can commit in whatever way they feel means more to them. I had headaches for the first two nights, and severe cravings for very unhealthy foods for the first two days, but five days in I'm pleased to say that I feel amazing, I've got so much energy and I already feel more free. I'm still feeling occasional cravings but they are by no means overpowering and the best thing is that I haven't seriously contemplated acting upon them, which for me is unheard of! This book has helped me to understand a lot of things I already sort of knew in the back of my mind but couldn't put into words myself, as well as many more things I had absolutely no idea about, and most importantly it's helped me to understand that if you're like me and highly susceptible to addiction to sugar and flour (and indeed any substance that can result in alterations to the way your brain releases dopamine) then you need a system whereby you can regain control of your actions without continually failing and subsequently falling into the trap of failing because you've failed. I don't want anyone to think I'm being naive about this, I know it's not a miracle cure for binge eating and being overweight, it will still take my work and commitment but I feel like now I've got a system that will make it as easy for me as it possibly can be - not easy, but easier than any other method I know of. I quit drinking when I was 21 and didn't drink a drop for five years, and since I started drinking again it just doesn't appeal to me in the same way, and that's because I changed the way I thought about it and changed my lifestyle completely. I know that if I can do that, I can do this as well Now, I'm not daft and I know that with Christmas and my birthday coming up I'd be setting myself up to fail if I said I'll carry this on over the holidays, so my plan is to carry on until Christmas, then start again properly in January after my birthday so I can give myself the best chance of success. Wish me luck! Last week's post:
I almost forgot to post this, it's 11.30pm and I'm just about to go to bed. I've been gripped by the Christmas spirit [em]lol[/em] I've put my tree and...

Thanks! It says to cut out sugar and flour, and until you reach your target weight you measure your food intake rigidly according to the amounts it reccommends, which is actually surprisingly easy Not easy, but surprisingly not as difficult as I would have thought, lol. It's certainly not foolproof and I've had some setbacks this weekend but it's only been a week and already I feel completely different about food. It doesn't feel like a comfort any more

Wishing you lots of luck and don´t get dismayed if you put a bit on it almost always just goes away with just cutting out a thing or two. Good thing about the book too keep going.

@LilyBeBack Can be quite tough I know and I threw away the scales ages ago as its a bad habit. Just try and go somewhere where you can weigh yourself in peace and quiet and don´t bash yourself up if you weigh a bit more than what you did. I reckon the body is very wise and will only lose the weight that it needs to so don´t get too downhearted about it. i have made friends with the two extra midriff kilos that never seem to want to leave me.

@lovinangelsinstead21 That's good that you've made peace with yourself Once I get to my goal I'll be able to relax a bit and anything else I lose beyond that will be a bonus

Thanks I need to stick to only getting weighed once a week as well, cos I often do it on random days and then get disheartened by what I see and that results in me eating the wrong things

You are definitely being smart about it. When I first read the book the thing that hit me most was that will power is a myth. That was huge to me because I just thought I was weak. I loved reading the personal accounts of the other Bright Line eaters because it was so encouraging. The other day I gave in and ate a cookie my dad's wife gave me. She kept telling me she made them just for me. I ate one and felt kind of nauseated. So that's a good thing. I don't want my body to get used to it.

@LilyBeBack That's so great. Because I could never imagine overcoming so much. You have a good idea about what to tell your family. I am going to have to convey how serious this is.

I'm glad you found something that helps! I may have to look into that myself. I have gained another 3 lbs since my last doctor's appointment! Come the first of the year, I'm changing my eating habits...I've been so bad about it lately, eating a lot of fast food and holiday goodies. But I don't want to keep gaining weight and then have a hard time taking it off again.

I think it would be a good thing because the information in the book really helps you to regain power and control I understand, of course - this method has made me feel great really quickly, but my addiction is so strong that I'm still planning on ruining it temporarily by going back to normal over Christmas and New Year!

I think by Dec 31 you will put on more weight due to drinking and eating in many parties. This is quite natural. We have to make a regular system of our own. Did you identify such system suitable for your weight management?
