I found out my aunt passed away

United States
December 15, 2017 10:10pm CST
My cousin posted it on fb, that is how i found out she was ill , by a fb post. I was sad to see she passed, I didn't see this until a day after. I know fb is easy for some, but I don't think the best way to inform the family someone passed away. I thought about her today and the good times we had when she lived here. She will be missed. Some of you will say at least you found out, but fb is not the way to do it. Some of our family didn't know because they do not use social media.

That is crass. Decent folks would at least use a phone to give the sad news. My condolences.

I fully agree with you, FB is for short communications, but not for important matter like this.

I'm so sorry and agree that social media is the worst way to find out of the passing of a loved one. Hugs!

thank you, for saying most people I have talked to say it is fine, as long as I found out.

@CookieMonster46 I still believe common courtesy should be a phone call first, then a Facebook posting.

@CookieMonster46 instant and important messages are conveyed to our closed relatives and friends by phone. FB and other social media are to share the news, information, photos, videos etc amongst others.
