Celebrating?

My son’s birthday is today, and it is also our city’s holiday. From being a town, our place assumed cityhood in 2002. Therefore, I did not have my duty, and offices here were open for half a day only. After I and my son visited the church (there was no more mass at 6:30AM) we had breakfast in a food store, where he had spaghetti and I had the bowl of noodles with thick soup (lomi). Then there were some sounds of drum, bugle and lyre bands, and every locality with their folks marched around the city premises. I took pictures and posted them on Facebook with the caption that “our city is celebrating the birthday of my son”.

That's awesome! My youngest daughter's birthday is June 12 same as our Independence day so I know the feeling.

hahaha! right on that. June 12 is a national holiday so every Filipino celebrates your daughter's birthday as well. flags are raised, and a bouquet (wreath) is offered in a hero's monument, am i right?

Indeed it could be like that - a celebration of your son's birthday. This also happened to me when last Dec 9th , our GM treated us for lunch at Linguini Fini then dinner at Vikings at Megamall. My daughter was there too. They videoed the dinner at Viking and greeted me. When it's my chance I told them-Thanks for coming and celebrating with me here at Vikings, my birthday. To which we all laughed because it's actually the treat of our GM to my birthday, not me.

Despite of the cold, I guess it's never a problem to celebrate some one's birthday. My sister in law's birthday is the same day as the Independence day.
