An Open Letter to Amtrak From a Tweeter

Hey, Amtrak, Isn't it bad enough that you run your stupid system on my tax money? Now you have to go and have a wreck -- I'm sorry, "incident" -- while The Price Is Right is on! CBS had interrupted my show to keep telling me about it. Would you please schedule your next wreck/incident outside of the broadcast time for The Price Is Right???? Sincerely, A Tweeter ------------------------------------------------------- Yes, that's sarcasm. And yes, I actually did see a tweet this morning from someone who was raising holy heck because CBS had pre-empted The Price Is Right to report on the train derailment near Seattle. Let's see....The Price Is Right was taped weeks ago. People are dead because of the wreck. That's one bad thing about social media: the inconsiderate self-centered arrogance of people who are inconvenienced by tragedies is put out there for all to see. My prayers, concerns, and condolences for those have loved ones affected by this. And, truthfully, I also have prayers and condolences to offer for someone who cares more about a stupid game show than the lives of human beings.

But that is the mentality of the Deplorables. ME ME ME ME ME ME. Not "US". Not our environment. Not our climate. Not our precious endangered species. Damn you TV for messing up my them there game show.

This has been going on for 40 years (plus). The 70s were called the Me generation. (Of course, today's attitudes makes them look like altruistic saints....)

@NJChicaa -- the people living in the 70s. Of course, Time magazine referred to millennials as "the me, me, me, me!!" generation.

I saw this and it's horrible. I read they took a 30 mph turn in the track going 80. My prayers are with the families also. This shouldn't have happened.

That's truly tragic that someone would care more about a stupid game show than someone's life.

I just don't get people. On the day Columbine happened, I had tickets to the Avalanche/Sharks playoff game. I certainly didn't raise hell when they canceled the game that night. But I would be willing to bet that a lot of people did.

I was laying in a hospital bed watching the news. The projected turn they made was outrageous for the speed thsy were going.
