my thoughts on Amtrak wreck in Washington
Most known for years I used to run a railroad news blog and religiously post and updated the railroad news. Many times the facts are correct and consistent.
But as I viewed the news about the Amtrak Train Wreck in Washington.. I was seeing not a single article had the number or passengers the same. I understand death and injured toll changes.. But it is always the same number of passengers.
I saw them state the conductor was at fault for speeding.. Conductors usually give the orders to the Train or locomotive engineers.. only in some causes like communter light rail are they actually driving the train.
From what I understand the looking at the photos the train obviously lifted off the tracks from speeding some sources state it was 85 mph in 30 mph zone.. when i look at those wreck photos it does not look like the speed was that high maybe 20-30 miles higher than it should be..
The Media i know is hyped on fast jumping on the event.. but I wish they would get their facts straight or better site the sources.
Wait for the official word from the railroad companies, National Transportation Safety board, and Federal Railroad Administration.

I learned this terrible news last night as my friend told me. He said to me not to try the train in USA when we have a travel there next year. I think sometimes it is hard to avoid the accidents. I think basically it is still safe. I hope such kind of things will never happen again.

Its hard to know what to say. National Public Radio has had some heartbreaking reports from folks who were on the train when the disaster happened. I've driven in that area many times.
