The story behind my cute kitty photo

Even though I claim to be a dog person, not a cat person, kitties always find me when I visit friends' houses. I think it's because I'm good at heavy petting, and kitties remember. A couple of days ago, we have "movie night" at my friends' house, and my furry friend found his way into my lap for a major purr session. The movie we watched was the kids' movie about the Hawaiian girl drawn to the water. Kind of boring, I though, but the purr session was very satisfying. I asked my friend to send me a cool photo of my fur friend, and this is what he sent.

This shot reminds me of that National Geographic cover of that Afghan (I think) girl with the green eyes.

@hereandthere I think there may be photos of her as an adult out there, but I'm not sure.

Had to laugh a bit, "I think it's because I'm good at heavy petting" Yeah, sure, that's the reason.

@TheHorse According to my vet, certain cats may purr just before being operated on.

@TheHorse Cats are very smart to understand who in the group is the one who will give more cuddles.

It really is. He's a sweet cat. Even the family dog likes him. The dog was on the couch between me and my buddy. The wife was off doing lawyer things.

@TheHorse The Horse, it is very important for the pets to be able to get along with each other. I had a dog and then the cat came along and they loved each other. Their personalities were pefect for each other.

Yes! Did you see it? We didn't quite stay for the ending. But now I'll be able to play along when my preschool kids want to be Moana instead of Elsa.

@thislittlepennyearns Frozen. The horror. All the little girls I work with sing "Let it Go" until I'm nauseous. Fortunately, they let me be Zazu when they threaten to go to the elephant boneyard. And then I'm Mufasa if there are hyenas around. Thank goodness for Lion King (and Finding Nemo).

@TheHorse Yeah, I watched it a couple weeks ago. It was cute, but not what I expected. And a change from Frozen is always good.

Oh what a precious little kitty @TheHorse . If you ever visited here you'd have 12 of them all over you. I'd probably have to get out the Sticky Pads and go over your whole body. Hey......now there's a thought.

They saying petting a cat helps bring down your blood pressure. I can quite believe it.

I'm sure petting a kitty (or a dog or horse) leads to the release of oxytocin, which reduces cortisol, leading to a reduction in blood pressure. Am I a nerd, or what?

Cats know good people when they arrive on their door step. My sister's cat is the one that vouched for my current hubby when he first came to visit.

I don't think he's sad. He even gets along with the family dog. But he does chill in the bedroom until an interesting visitor comes over.
