Do You Drink Much at Holiday Parties?

I am a very light drinker. I have about two glasses of wine a week. Even during a busy week of holiday parties, it is rare for me to drink more than one glass of wine during the evening. My husband used to drink more heavily when he was in his 20s and 30s. However, he doesn't drink at all anymore. Health problems completely sidelined his alcohol consumption. Most of our friends are either light drinkers or they do not drink at all. However, we have been to a few parties where people were definitely drunk. At the company party, one woman was so drunk that she kept slipping and falling down while she danced wildly. The bosses cut her off and made sure someone else was driving her home. Everyone else seemed fine, however. What about you? Are the holidays a time to let loose and really get drunk, or do you moderate your alcohol consumption?

I don't drink much at parties. One or two drinks goes a long way. Now and then at home I have more than 2.

We don't know anyone who drinks or smokes these days.

@PatZAnthony - That is impressive ... that no one you know either smokes or drinks. It is very rare to see a smoker in California. There are entire towns, like Laguna Beach, where it is illegal to smoke inside any public building, and there is no smoking allowed outside in public. That makes it very hard to be a smoker! LOL

I drink some during the holidays, but not much now. I drank more when I was young.

My husband and I drank more when we were young. That has changed over the years!

To be honest it doesn't take the holiday season to encourage me to drink more than I should. Although I do drink a lot less these days than I used to. It's just that these days a lot less is too much.

@DeborahDiane Don't worry about me. I don't actually drink that much these days and have never really drank particularly heavily since I was in my 20s. The culture I worked in back then wasn't a healthy one. Fortunately it never spilled over into anything that was harmful long term.

@WorDazza - I understand. The business culture my husband worked in during his 20s and 30s was not a healthy one, either. I'm glad you don't drink as much, now.

Yes, that woman made a spectacle of herself. It was embarrassing to watch. I only drink in moderation, too. Merry Christmas to you!

I'm the weird one in the bunch. I have never tasted booze of any sort and don't intend to ever. I used to do quite well at being silly on 7-UP. Now I rarely drink that, either.

Good for you! There really is no reason to try booze of any kind. I don't know why I ever thought it was so great when I was young!

@DeborahDiane I was the odd loner when I was a kid. The cheerleaders on their grapefruit diets and boozing with the guys just didn't feel like the way to be.

@saritflor - Yes, it can be very damaging to our bodies. We are much worse off when we drink, especially to excess.

@saritflor - I agree completely with your opinion. It is never good to do anything to excess, especially drink. We can have a lot of fun without drinking!
