Happy Thursday (and almost Friday) to all. Now that we are approaching the end of the year - it feels like an appropriate time to reflect. I did a lot of reading this year. Thanks to the "To Read" app downloaded on my phone,I was able to keep track of just how many that has been (132 books to be exact). I had no goals but got in the habit of reading while on the elliptical machine. Also before bed. Since I spend a lot of time there, books got read. Warning - this post will be long. What are some of the best and worst books you read in 2017 (whether or not they were released in 2017?) Did you discover any new authors (or new to you) authors in 2017? Did you find yourself liking any new genres? Did you make any goals for your reading? I read mostly memoirs and fiction. Also read quite a few weight loss related memoirs that helped motivate me. Some if my favorite memoirs I read this year include Half Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot by Kim Baker, Coming Clean by Kimberly Miller, I know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou among others. As far as fiction goes,I read a lot of good ones this year. I reread Brave New World by Huxley, Hum if You Dont Know Thw Words by Bianca Marais, Choirboys by Joseph Wambaugh, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, Gone Girl, and many others. I also discovered John Grisham this year and subsequently read several books including Litigators, Streer Lawyer, Runaway Jury, The Broker. What about you? And do you have any goals for 2018?

Thats a good idea. I cant make really concrete goals otherwise it feels like it sets myself up for failure. But for some it helps.

Did you read The Glass Castle? That one is even better than Half Broke Horses, IMO. I discovered the Outlander series and tore through it. I'm almost finished with the last book and will be sad when I am. The next one won't be released until 2019 sometime.

It's Friday here already. And I would like to have a new book to read but sometimes I am too lazy to read books. My goal in 2018 is to be good and better.

I've also read Brave New World, it's rather sad at the end, and last year I read Gone Girl. Do you go to Goodreads at all?

@maezee Yes, I won around five books in the past, but I don't like my reviews to be rushed, so I stop entering. This is my page there if you want to be friends. I don't go there as much as I once did.
Rhonda has 1,413 books on Goodreads, and is currently reading Split Second by Douglas E. Richards, The Enigma Strain by Nick Thacker, and Hope by Devon C...

I have read little this year because of my eyes. But I read a very good book called "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. And a couple fo days ago, I saw that there was the movie made from the book at Netflix. It was a good movie and quite accurate

I read mostly biographical histories and while I didn't read as many as I might like I have purchased a bunch to read in 2018. I like Alison Plowden and Alison Weir.
