Why this photo will never appear on Facebook

Facebook is weird. Some people publish false political memes without giving much thought to them. Some people post photos that show how much more fun they're having than you are. Some post about what they just ate. Some post about how much more amazing or beautiful their kids are than yours. Some teens sill post "duck faces." This photo will never appear on Facebook because it's from a small music party I went to a few days ago. The host, Kathy (with her arm on my knee), invited a handful of her favorite music buddies. If I posted this photo to Facebook, other music friends might wonder why they weren't invited. Still others might "retaliate" with photos of their own musical good times. Humbug. One of the things I like about MyLot is that it's (almost) entirely separate from my day-to-day world. I do NOT invite friends and relations to join MyLot. I can write about whatever the hell I want, including them. Buwaahaahaa! Are there things you like and dislike about Facebook v. MyLot?

Ha ha ! The Horse is unveiling his darker secrets here. I invited friends here when there was a referral program, but none of them joined. And not a close friend has a Facebook account.

@pgntwo I never used one of these. I have been invited to join Linkedlin several times, but I resisted. I use often Skype though, and I even had a Skype phone number during many years.

@TheHorse @topffer Facebook fanatics we're surely not. What about WhatsApp, now owned by Facebook, and... LinkedIn?

I Love how here you can talk and share about what is going on in your life and world, and more people will ask about you. On Facebook it is all about Politics, who is making more $$, bitcoin, etc. Never just about you or your family and Health unless they're just trying to do a one up.

@TheHorse I really, really don't like people who always have a more serious illness, more brilliant grandkids, more vacation trips to more exotic places, and generally just more of everything than me.

@1creekgirl That's what Facebook is for! Good point about even illnesses being a part of the game.

@m_audrey6788 One thing that bothers me, though: If I DO post something serious (not necessarily about my personal life), it gets less attention than a breakfast post or something.

I do post some of the fun stuff. Or the silly stuff. But the really personal stuff is for those who are truly close to me.

I am not active at Facebook as I am a rather private person. I open up at online sites as I feel they are different from FB in the way people interact - siva

Yes that's the only thing I like about mylot as our friends and relatives may not read what we write here. But the irony is my wife sometimes reads my posts.

I don't use FB at all for all the reasons you give. Vince is on a couple of photos sites and one for people connected with our old home town but that's about it. I don't invite friends to join myLot either. It would seriously compromise my posts although I really try not to post anything that would lead me to know who I'm talking about - except Vince of course but I consider him fair game. Second time I've used 'fair game' in a comment this morning.

That's a lovely image, something that I don't like about FB is that people let themselves be over judging toward others. I don't like as well over exposing oneself. Never understood it.
