How many of you use skype to talk to family and friends far away?

I have used skype very little and if I have to make a phone call overseas I use the telephone to call them. I do not have a plan with my phone because I do not make calls that often. I know there are those that miss their loved ones far away and like to see and talk to them so talk to them on skype.
Also, I think it is cheaper than using the phone unless you have a special plan.
So, do many of you use skype to talk to family far away or use it for something else?

Skype was the thing that introduced us to the beautiful video call concept... Used it a lot in the pasr but now there are so many easier and better options, that it is now a bit aloof

Yes, I have used skype Hanni. It comes with my computer and I have talked with my Dad a few times using that technology. He enjoys seeing me on screen and it adds a personal touch with us so far apart during the winter months when he is in Florida.

I don't really use skype, but the few times I did was to talk to a friend who lives across the country, and last January when my daughter visited the Philippines.

@Hannihar Well, the one friend that lives across the country, we mostly skyped because we did the NaNo ( A National Writing challenge that is done int he month of Nov where writers write a 50,000 word novel in one month) so we would skype to encourage one another, but that was years ago and neither one of us are interested in doing that again. Now we mostly communicate on Facebook.
As for my daughter, she was only in the Philippines for a month, so she is back and we communicate either by email, phone, or Facebook and I see her twice a week because I help her at her dog grooming shop.

@Hannihar It's on Apple products. We have it on our iPhones, iPads, and laptop. You make a phone call through it and then you can see and hear the other person, even while walking around. We can turn the pictures to show our son the views and Orville. He shows us the cats so we can talk to them and watch them play.

I've used it before but not lately. We always use Facebook messenger, which can be video or just the phone.

I used to communicate with Skype before but now I don't use it anymore. Maybe because FB messenger has a lot of features than Skype. I always use FB messenger.
