How I spent my birthday on December 24th...

My birthday was December 24th. My original plan was to get away to Washington, D.C. for about three to four days. I wanted to see a lot of things there, and I wanted to visit Old Town Alexandria, which is nearby. Then I changed my mind because places would probably close early on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day pretty much everything would be closed. My next option was to go to Atlantic City for a few days. Since it was my birthday, there was a chance I'd get lucky and win. But usually, if I win something (and it's never a big amount), I tend to keep on playing and then all or most of the winnings are gone. I didn't want to gamble away lots of money. Plus, I didn't find any shows there on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day to see. And there really wouldn't be anything else to do as places would be closed as well. So, I decided a different plan for my birthday. First I went for a delicious breakfast with my husband. Then we went to the zoo and spend around three and a half hours there. Some exhibits were closed and some animals were missing in action, like the polar bear, but I still had a great time. And then we went to a new restaurant for dinner to celebrate my birthday, which I loved. It was just the two of us. Turned out they had a special Christmas Eve menu. They offered 12 different courses for $64.95 plus tax, which was a good price. About five of them we couldn't eat though because we don't eat shellfish, seafood, or pork. But they accommodated us by substituting those dishes for other things. It turned out to be way too much but it was all delicious, minus the three pie dessert, which we weren't fans of. While I didn't get away like I wanted to, it turned out to be a great birthday that I will treasure and remember for a long time.

So you are a Christmas Eve baby. Have you experienced your birthday being lost in the Christmas mania?

Yep I am. Christmas is not my holiday though as I am Jewish, but I still love the fact that I was born on this day. It's the happiest time of the year... everything in colorful lights and hopefully in snow. I am not sure what you mean by "being lost in the Christmas mania"...

Thank you! It was a great day. And just the way I like it. I like to spend the entire day doing something instead of just staying home and then going to dinner in the evening.

A bit bummed that some animals were missing and that I didn't get to see everything in the zoo. Should have gotten their earlier. But it was a really nice day. And I finally got to go to the zoo, which is something I've wanted to do for months.

I've been trying to go to that zoo for a long time. My birthday was the day it finally happened. I loved being outdoors in the crisp cold air. Did lots of walking. And saw a lot of cool animals. Just wish they were all there and that all the exhibits were open. But hey, being the way it was, all the more reason to go back there again.
