I discussed some of the ten commandments in my last post so in this one I want to discuss the new covenant of Jesus which says we should love one another. I've noticed that some people think it replaces the ten commandments and I can understand their thoughts on it but the truth is that it doesn't replace them. It simply fulfills them. How? Well because love is stronger than anything. You wouldn't kill, steal, or lie etc. to someone you truly love. So the one law to love one another covers every one of the ten commandments, it doesn't replace any of them. God doesn't change his mind so everything he says remains forever. Jesus came to fulfill the prophecy through love (sacrifice and truth). In the old testament the people had to sacrifice on a daily basis to make up for the sins they commited. Jesus was and is the final sacrifice for the world through him we are saved. Does that mean we are saved and now we can sin and get away with it? No of course not, that wouldn't be logical thinking to even believe that. We are saved and free to serve. We are put here for God's purpose, not our own. Our purpose is to do what God intended us to do. Nothing more and nothing less. For many people that seems unfair, but to Christians it is the best reason for being alive and we cherish the gift every minute.
