Routines! Are you stuck with them?

I don't know if the above title is correct in that I have routines that I stick to but I am not stuck or trapped by them. Each and everyday I keep routines like clockwork. If I waver slightly then I get off track. Some people would probably refer to this as some kind of obsessive behaviour but generally I think I'm pretty sane! I enjoy routines as they keep me organised. Routines for me can be anything from breakfast dead on 8 am and waking up at 7 am. I check emails around 7:30 am and Sky News has to be on when I wake up at 7 am. Over the years I have fallen into a niche, a comfortable place that works for me and so I am happy and content with that. So, what's your story? Do you have routines that you stick to? What do you think of routines?

Perhaps that is a good way to look at things. I tend to take each day as it comes also although I like to throw a routine or two in there!

On working days I follow a strict routine, however, routine goes to toss on weekends.

Well, that makes a lot of sense lol. If you are inundated with routines during the week then perhaps a weekend break can only be a good thing.

I have the same routine in the morning Monday through Friday, In the morning I go swimming and than for a half hour walk and in the afternoon another half hour walk. Over the weekend there is no routine.

Well, come weekend I suppose it is good to get away from a little routine. Even me on the weekends I like to enjoy a little lay in on a Saturday morning.

I think it is natural to fall into routines. Having a job certainly forces a person into one. They can get you stuck in a rut.

Sure, as you say work kind of forces that on you. Still, I don't mind my routines as long as I continue to experience calm!

I like routines. For me, without one, I feel out of control and kinda freak out. LoL. I try not to get too rigid about them though, as I have in the past. If I have to do something different in the morning before work for example, I have to do a lot of self talk, and let myself know it's fine that it's not the same as usual and things will be okay. LoL.

That sounds like a good plan that works for you. I do like an organised system in my own life and it's not bad as long as everything is working and in tune.

oh yes, the everyday work routine. I guess when it comes to those we can rarely escape! I have my home routines which I am very fond of. Well, have a nice weekend.
