Frozen Pipes, Head Cold, Wild Child, Lack of Ambition

Wish I could say that I have been having a blast these past few days. But, that isn't what I've been doing.
Little Miss has been pushing the buttons lately. She is into everything under the sun. Put all of her small "friends and family" as she calls them into a dirty mop bucket that I had used to mop up cat pee. Yea, I had to put them all into a big bucket filled with hot water and disinfectant cleanser. Hopefully they will be okay once they dry out. My fault for not emptying the bucket pronto to chase her away from something else she could get into.
Woke up yesterday to frozen pipes. The bitter cold is still upon us and our water pipes froze. My fault again. I brushed my teeth and forgot to leave the water at a trickle in the bathroom sink. My husband was able to borrow my brother's salamander space heater and thaw the pipes.
After avoiding getting a cold before Christmas, finally came down with one a few days later. Yay. Guess I should have worn a mask while at my client's house for 4 hours a day, 4 days a week.
Because of the cold and my suffering from the winter blues, I have no ambition to do a dang thing. I did take a nap today. That didn't even revive me enough to do more than sit my lazy butt on the couch and play with a frog puppet that Little Miss received for Christmas. She enjoys it when we play together, so I guess it is okay.
So, now I sit here and try to keep the wild child entertained so she won't get into things that she isn't supposed to. Maybe I'll hand her the cleaning set she got and kill two birds with one stone. At least the house will be tidy.

Looks like the fridgid weather is sticking around for a while. As for feeling better, I guess this cold will need to run its course.

You are not alone, many of us on here have been talking about being down and you have had a lot on your plate. Spending time with your granddaughter is the best time anyway so the housework can wait, it never ends anyway and she won't always be little miss. I hope your cold gets better quickly.

I wish I could get outside with Little Miss. This cold weather is keeping us inside. Some fresh air would do us all good.
We did venture out to go shopping yesterday. It was so cold that it hurt our faces. Foolish to go shopping, but it was necessary.
The cold is hanging on for some reason. Have post nasal drip and a cough still. But, I am not as fatigued from it. Hopefully by this weekend I'll be in tip top shape again.

@BelleStarr I have been using saline spray and yes, it does help. I am resting when I can. Getting to bed early, but with that, I am up early too.

@ElusiveButterfly I sure hope so, try to get plenty of rest and I like saline spray when I have post nasal drip to clean out the sinuses. It is bitter cold here too, was -1 when we left this morning. I can't wait to get to the warmer weather.

You are a better person than I. Those toys would be thrown out. I say that, but if I had to look into that cute face I probably would have saved it all too. But add to that the pipes situation, and I would be way over stressed. I certainly hope you feel better soon.

I took a 3 hour nap, but I still felt like crap. Hoping to sleep well tonight. I'll be tackling the toys in the morning.

Oh, so sorry to hear of your woes. Little Miss will only remember the good times with you. So sorry about those frozen pipes of yours. That's my greatest fear not being at home, but the heat is on and our son checks the house. Feel better and hope you have a Happy New Year!

I am happy that the pipes didn't burst. That would have been a nightmare.

I would be more apt to deal with stuff better if I could shake this cold.

I hope that your luck turns around.
Its too bad about your pipes freezing, a friend of mine lived out in the country in a home without a basement and their pipes froze twice 3 years ago. I felt so sorry for her because she said it was living he77.

We there are heating tapes but the feral cats crawled under the trailer and they somehow got unplugged.

My neighbor was complaining about having her pipes frozen again. Seems to be the pattern when you live in a trailer.

You really are having a hard time of it. That was nice that your husband to use the heater to unfreeze the pipes.

Sounds like you and little miss should cuddle on the couch and watch a movie and then maybe go to bed early tonight.

This cold weather is a real drag, so sorry you have a cold on top of it. I am not getting much done as it is so cold I just want to sleep. I actually fell asleep here for a few minutes while reading discussions.
