Fireworks are loud and annoying

But watching their colours exploding over the rooftops in all directions does give me a sense of togetherness, especially on New Year's Eve. It's the feeling of being one with everything and everyone, all sorts of people coming together to celebrate one thing, and I think it makes it even better that this one thing means something slightly different to everyone. It's not a protest, it's not angry revolution (although arguably we need that as well), it's joy consolidated into hundreds of visual displays of the concept of new beginnings, all at one time. I still think they're too noisy though

They are really loud and when they go off on random nights that drives me mad because there's no reason for it I think they should be banned except for licensed public displays

I don't like it when my neighbors set off the (illegal) fireworks here. I'm always afraid they will set my apartment on fire.

My dog hates fireworks, but I kind of miss seeing them. I can't view them from my window, and it is 14 degrees (-10 C) so I'm staying inside. I do like the sentiment of everyone joining in for one thing.

Nice. Lots of folks do fireworks here too which is dangerous since its a city. Lots of targets, houses and people and whatnot.
