Methane Bursts are more instantaneous and powerful than CO2 emissions.

A burst of methane gasses into the atmosphere will affect the local area where it happens and within a very short period of time, a change in temperature locally, will be noticed. Another thing. It is still possible to make new soil for local farming. There is about a 10 year delay between cause and effect with green house gasses emissions into the atmosphere that will tend to make temperatures in certain areas hotter than ever before experienced. So, why does all this matter? Basically, we have over 7 billion living on the earth today. We are not able to keep on doing what we have been doing if we expect to survive as a species on planet earth. Self reinforcing feedback loops is a lot more than just a simple phrase. There is a lot of speculation on the subject and hopefully some of the predictions are way off. I am not ready to throw in the towel as yet.

We have to prove we are worthy to continue here as we give two hoots for the blessings we enjoy. We seem to have overstayed our welcome. It is time we united to understand and agree on the basics to repay our gratitude to Mother Earth - siva

I think that if we as a species are to survive, the population will have to be greatly reduced but who will volunteer not to have children? Even at the rate of a zero population growth curve, it will be over 70 years before a significant reduction of the earth's human population to reduce or possibly reduce the global effect we have put on things. And all remaining human survivors would be in their golden years by that time and unable to have children so there would have to be some type of control and that would be hell for us as it is in our very nature to pro-create as related to Biblical teachings from the book of Genesis. There would have to be enough of those of earlier age groups to maintain a constant state of reproduction to make certain our species was always able to continue from generation to generation even at a low or zero population growth curve.

@lookatdesktop There has been a reduction in the population growth rate as women are getting more educated in poorer countries. Only in places where they are subjugated the old ways persist. In my circle of relatives and friends the average children per couple has been two or even one for many years. The quality of life matters and the ecological footprint has attained increasing awareness. thanks to technology and even remote parts of the planet are plugged into what is the norm everywhere else. Yes, an aging population without the young to balance the ratio brings its own challenges - siva
