So I am going to try and post at least one of these each day. I will look at a recent piece of news and give the details as they are presented and then give you my take on the story. Maybe you will enjoy it maybe you'll hate it not really sure. Just remember this is more as a joke than actual news reporting.
This morning I read a story called "The cotton field holiday photo". Let me try to give you a visual of this photo. So Georgia Department of Corrections took a holiday photo where 15 members were standing/sitting in a cotton field. The back row is standing and the front row appears to be sitting on chairs. Now of the 15 members 10 are female. The 5 males are all white, and 3 of the females are black or appear to be. All the males are standing in the back row with 3 white females, in the front row the 3 black females are in the center. Everyone is wearing at least some red except one white female who is wearing all black.
I give all that detail to try and paint a picture in case you have not seen this. The headline says that the department is criticized for the "very distasteful" cotton-themed holiday photo.
So people are saying "it's insensitive", "cotton fields in Georgia represent something different to African Americans", "Why were the three black ladies in the center" "bad choice by all".
My take when first seeing the photo wasn't about race, I thought why would you stand out in a cotton field to take a holiday photo. Why is that lady the only one without some red on, did she not get the memo to wear some red?
My first thought was not that cotton fields relates to slavery but I guess I don't look at everything and try to figure out how I can be offended. Although I think it is an odd place to take a photo I guess I just don't see how this is offending anyone. Perhaps they were trying to be racist or maybe they were not. Maybe those that are offended by this need to stop and look at themselves and see if just maybe they are the problem.

@VanillaMocha yea, I don't think that part of Georgia gets snow or at least not like the northern states.
