I bought a juicer!

Anyone else have one of these? I bought one for fun after my coworker introduced me to the idea of juicing which is or was apparently a diet fad for a while. Essentially its a food processor that turns vegetables and fruits into... pulp free juice. It really is quite amazing. I played around with it for a while yesterday and made a simple creation: carrot apple ginger juice. It tasted amazing. I wont be doing any crazy juice fasts or anything but may use it here and there. One downside is that it takes soo many full size vegetables to make a cup of juice. And then you have the leftover pulp to deal with. I hate wasting food so I am in the process pf finding a use for the leftover pulp. I am debatinf throwing it in a blender and making a smoothie with it. What do you do with your pulp? And what are the benefits of drinking juice with no pulp anyway? I hear the pulp contains most of the fiber. Not sure about the other nutrients. Also, what kind of recipes have you tried? If you have any good ones to share please do!

I don't have a juicer so the thought of having pulp never entered my mind. I'm sure someone here will come up with a good suggestion. I'm sure the vegetable pulp could be used in soups?

Hey that is a great idea also! Thanks. It seems like it is hard to keep the vegetable and fruit pulp separate but I bet fruit pulp would be ok in soups also. Thanks again!

I hate orange juice with the pulp in it. I got a juicer for free once but it was missing pieces so was useless and I had to throw it away. My thoughts were it would waste a lot of food and reading what you wrote I see I’m right. I’ll stick to drinking smoothies instead!

I know it! Unless you can find a use for the pulp. I attempted to reuse the carrot pulp in a smoothie and it did turn out ok but i could not enjoy the flavor at all. I hate wasting food too so I will be on the hunt for some ideas.

@maezee If it’s just vegetable pulp like from carrots you could add it to muffins or meatloaf maybe.

@maezee I don’t go on amazon because they don’t always ship to Belgium. There are some good local sites however.

Could you enjoy the pulp mixed in with yogurt to add a little fiber?

Thats a great idea. Would it be weird though since a lot of it is also vegetables to mix that in yogurt? (Like kale and carrot pulp)? Maybe just a plain yogurt?

Thats good though! Do you think there are health benefits or do you just like fresh and pulp free juice? Yesterday I threw in mine beets, spinach, kale, an apple, orange, lemon and grapes with a little bit of ginger. It sounds like a lot but it was delicious!

@maezee Experimentation is good. You find out what works and what doesn't.

You get tons of nutrients to stay young and fight diseases like cancer from fresh juice and I think you must get a bit of the fibre as well. Just treat it as juice and get your fibre from your veggies. That could work! But it is a very healthy investment you just made!

Those juicers are very popular items. No juicer for me I just use my blender. Of course that does limit my options. What brand did you buy?

Thats exciting. I have often wondered, how effective is the liquid diet?
