I was just reading and commenting on @NJChicaa discussions and I was wondering how many ate meat that was not cooked, as in well done.
When I ate steak I had mine well done and that is how my entire family eats it to this day.
Now that I think about it if I see any pink on any chicken or turkey I am not eating it. I do not do raw fish.
I was always taught to cook the food done to kill bacteria and worms that lives in meat of animals.
I don`t care how people eat, That is their choice, I was just wondering how many people like their steaks and burgers well done?

I eat raw fish when I have sushi. And I eat other types of raw fish cooked in lemon (not much) when I eat cebiche (a dish common to Peru and Chile. I also eat raw ground meat cooked lightly with lemon (a German dish).

@JohnRoberts That's the best way to eat a steak. Any top chef will tell you that.

You're not supposed to eat poultry with any pink or blood showing. Pork either. However, you can eat beef rare, and back in the day you could even eat what was commonly called cannibal sandwiches - raw hamburger sandwiches. Can't do that now, though.
I don't like all the flavor cooked out of my meat. Never have been fond of shoe leather. I prefer a nice rare to medium rare steak. It must show pink for me.

@andriaperry It was a big thing when I was growing up. Now every package of hamburger says to cook thoroughly.

@CoralLevang It was a favorite growing up. I remember the fireman's picnic every year. There would be men ready to make you that awesome cannibal sandwich with raw onions and pickles. Okay, I must stop, I'm drooling again.

@andriaperry If you see blood when you order a medium rare it means it's not correctly cooked. Raw meat does not bleed.

I like my beef medium to well done but everything else is well. I probably cook my chicken and pork too much but I like it dry and definitely don't want any hint of pink

Poultry should ALWAYS be thoroughly cooked to prevent exposure to salmonella bacteria. The FDA recently lowered their recommended safe internal temperature for pork to 145 degrees F as the trichinella worm has been eliminated from the domestic pork supply. That is good news because otherwise it was way overcooked and dry.
I like my beef medium rare to medium. . . with some pink. I grew up with my mother cooking beef well done to the point where it was like shoe leather. It was tough, dry, and gross. Meat that has some pink in it IS cooked, just not overcooked.
I do like sushi on occasion.

I grew up on hockey puck burgers. I want my burgers just barely done, no pink. Steak can be pink.

I would like to have it extremely well done. So i would get rid of the thought that worms are still on it. We don't have an xray eyes to see it. So I am just being wary most especially with the food I ate.

I prefer my meat well done also. I will sometimes eat beef medium rare if someone else cooks it that way, but that is not how I cook it. Anything else must be cooked thoroughly -- I won't touch poultry if it's pink because of salmonella.

@andriaperry The reason chicken is pink by the bone, they are no longer hung up by the neck and bled out. That's how farmers use to do it. Now to kill chickens, it's usually done by electrocution.
