Let’s rock and roll through the week. According to the Fab Four, there are “Eight Days a Week.”
The capped a phenomenal run of seven consecutive #1 gold singles for the Beatles in 1965. In the UK, the song was on the “Beatles for Sale” album while “Beatles VI” in the US.
You all know this one:
“Love you every day, girl
Always on my mind
One thing I can say, girl
Love you all the time
Hold me, love me, hold me, love me
Ain’t got nothing but love, girl
Eight days a week”
Paul McCartney was principle songwriter and inspiration was supposedly a chauffeur saying he works eight days a week. Or it could have been a malapropism by Ringo Starr. McCartney composed a simply declaration of love that John Lennon did not like. Perhaps that is why the Beatles never performed “Eight Days a Week” in concert.

Lennon didn’t like anything. I’m surprised he allowed them to put his name on Paul’s stuff as co-writer, as much as he hated just about everything Paul wrote.

Oh yes, that song. I haven't heard it in years but when I was younger I liked it a lot.

That takes me back to my Beatlemaniac days. We had three main stations in the Bay Area, and I'd flip the dial to whoever was playing the Beatles. And of course they dominated the airwaves in those years so it wasn't hard to find them. I really loved the British Invasion! Thanks for a blast from the past!

Love how they do the fade in at the song's beginning and just get right into that upbeat tune!
