To Workout Or Not To Workout?

New Years Resolution time is here. Many have used this classic favorite, "I'm going to get in shape or join a gym to start the New Year." When it comes down to it, few people actually want to put in the work it takes to achieve such fine physical form. Hey, it tough work requiring a lot of focus and dedication to achieve those results. After all, we are not runway models or professional athletes. So, what happens... after a time we think of creative excuses to quit working out.
Here are a few of the more popular excuses given to trainers that keep us out of that pilates class or off the exercise bike.
-"I DON'T WANT TO GET TOO BULKY"
-"I'M TOO OUT OF SHAPE TO WORK OUT"
-"I FORGOT MY HEADPHONES"
-"PEOPLE WILL NOTICE HOW OUT OF SHAPE I AM"
-"IT'S COLD OUT AND I DON'T WANT TO PULL SOMETHING"
-"I DON'T WANT TO GET TOO TIRED BECAUSE I'M GOING OUT"
-"THERE WON'T BE ENOUGH MACHINES AVAILABLE"
-"I ATE HEALTHY TODAY SO I DON'T NEED TO GO"
-"I JUST DID MY NAILS OR HAIR"
-"MY WORKOUT BUDDY IS A NO-SHOW"
Now those definitely were some really wacky reasons given to this interviewer from "Cheapism" magazine for their article. I am sure there are other reasons people use you could add to this list. Can you think of any excuses you have heard from people to avoid exercising?

i no longer make resolutions. back when i worked, i was usually too tired after work to do it and now it is a work out when i just walk to the kitchen and a double time one when i have to take a shower with my arthritis and COPD so thats my excuse and i am sticking to it.

@bunnybon7 As they say "when your dealt lemons make lemonade." Adopting the right attitude is definitely much better than crying about it

Yes I do agree with you. Like many things one must set aside time and make a plan to exercise.

DB, what do you mean by elastic bands?

@Hannihar They are like exercise rubber bands. Another name is resistance bands or tubing.

I use those elastic bands Hanni. They help strengthen without the worry of injuring myself.

@dgobucks226 I have the same feeling, I never felt the need to go to a gym.

Sounds like you are keeping yourself active. Personally, I don't think going to a gym is necessary to stay in shape.

I did not think of that! I hate having to wait for machines and yes going after someone else who just sweated on the machine is gross. Probably why I exercise at home

I enjoy walking myself. Due to a bad back and knee the jarring aggravates my condition.

Try the easy workout at home, watch it on TV, I don't workout because everyone at home is lazy bums

I hate these excuses. If you want to workout you always find a time for that!

If you want to stay healthy you need to do something. If you really want to do it you want make up excuses.
