Is man made global warming real?

The east coast of Australia is having record heat this week whilst the East Coast of America is having record cold yet still we are told global warming is real. Just as the 47 degrees ( 117F) heat in Sydney will drive up the yearly average Down Under and make good global warming copy for the media the -45 in Minnesota will no doubt not be so influential on yearly averages when it comes to totting up and proving man made global warming is real. It’s confusing how a warming planet can produce record cold temperatures. I’m old enough to remember in the 1970s when the same scientific community predicted an ice age coming as temperature around the world fell after the war. There is no doubt the planet is warming right now and we are pumping out too much CO2 and crap but I just don’t see a catastrophe they are talking about. Did you know it only takes 25% ice coverage of Earth to be classed as an ice age and we are currently at 17%? In fact, although the North Pole ice is in chaotic retreat and dangerously low the South Pole ice is growing faster and offsets the loss.
Cynics would say changing the phrase ‘man made global warming’ to ‘climate change’ and now to ‘extreme weather’ suggests the scientists are not sure either how to pitch this. Extreme weather phrasing allows Sydney and Minnesota to cohabit in global warming hype. But with everyone having a came phone capturing extreme weather it all adds to the hype that global warming is happening.
The truth is somewhere in-between and perhaps the word ‘catastrophe’ spoken so often by scientists is simply used to get us to take note and actually do something about our bad habits so the next generations are not choking and drowning. I am pretty sure it is getting warmer but the problem is, as a populous, we simply can’t do much to stop this and the only thing we can do to save the planet is to stop having kids, especially in the third world, and that simply is not going to happen and so we have to go down the global warming crime route. No one is going to tell Muslims and Sikhs to calm down on the babies in Asia and I can’t see the Pope telling Catholics any day soon to back off baby’s , religions somewhat reliant on donations from the masses...

The population growth rate is coming down though overall the number of people is still increasing.
Yes, religion plays a big part and it is time those who close their eyes to this issue opened them and addressed the issue in all earnestness. It is the quality not the quantity that matters.
China is on course to stabilise their population and most parts of India too on the same path. But few with the most illiterates have not got the message yet. Female education is they key to solve this issue. I quote "If you educate a man you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman you educate a family (nation)." But then fanatics have a hold on their followers and it is time the latter broke free and followed reason - siva

They listen and still go ahead Siva. I am speaking of women. My washerwoman's daughter was brilliant girl. Then they found a handsome guy with no mother in law but enough property, and a decent job. They got her married when she was 16. She gave birth to her first child when she was hardly 17 and a half. Now she is 20, and again pregnant. I had asked her not to get the child married, she said later we may not get a good match. I asked her to delay having kids, the washer woman said, it is the boy's wish. The second child is also the boy's wish. He does not want the wife to work, and earns only 15000 per month. He has a small house. Same thing with the building watchman's daughter, she is also moving around with second child in her belly. My maid's grand daughter is now 22. She gave birth to her daughter 4 years ago. Her husband was not working taking away her monies and yet she thought it fit to get pregnant. Now she runs around court to get divorce. That is the next generation of Hindus for you. Educating girl for you. All three have seen my neighbor who is a software engineer. She did not conceive till 34. Planning. I used to cite the example of this lady and tell them, have only one child and ensure that he or she has enough. They blame it on husbands.

@vandana7 And India has 10 million fewer girls than it should have in the last twenty years, something NO ONE wants to talk about

I doubt it. With our world leaders delving into to weather control I more so suspect it is a ruse. Get the populace worked up so they won't notice when the real weather disturbances start. By then they hope we will all be blaming ourselves so we won't lay the blame where it truly belongs.
Has anyone even known the weather to be totally consistent across the globe? For more than a decade or so?

I strongly disagree so much in areas you said so I'll try to keep it simple.
Where are you getting scientists disagree? #45 fired/ terminated so many and cut research.
The idea we can't do anything is wrong. We can do something.
Most people dont want to!

Yes, that's the only reason that religions want people to have babies, because they only see dollars signs per person. I'm sorry, I just realized you can't hear the sarcasm I felt when writing that.
The world is warming up, but I have never believed in global warming. Al Gore didn't mind lying in his book and bringing this belief further into the 21st century. Of course, I only play a global warming expert in my mind, so I really don't know what the real truth is.
I've read many times before this, that we're already in an ice age and have been for thousands of years, but I don't really believe that either.
I had four kids, so I'm sure that people who want humans to disappear off the planet must despise me.

You do realize that if everyone stopped having babies the world would die out in say 100 years. I think there certainly are poor nations that need to educate people about birth control but the wealthier countries are already quite low on the number of babies being born. I think we need to get rid of our cars, especially in the US, they are major polluters and most families have more than one.

No doubt there are changes in global weather systems and I am as cynical as you about these alarmist statements. Have you noticed how the Met office have started to name storms these days! Good grief a little bit of wind here and there and it gets a name!

Australia's climate changes have been like this four-weather-temperatures in a day since Australia's scientific discovery. Last Saturday, it was 40-42 deg F. Monday, it was 35 cool change in the evening. Today is 27 to 19 cool change. Plant more trees and vegetation-- they love carbon dioxide CO2 the best. They help clean our air. :-)
Natural biological baby-multiplying is at risk, 'thanks' to SSM unions.
