New Jersey is frozen

I have no idea what possessed my father to go out onto the beach today but he apparently went. He took this picture which is at the very tip of Island Beach State Park (scene of Chris Christie's infamous 4th of July beach vacation this summer) and out at the jetty along the inlet between the state park and Barnegat Light.
You can see the lighthouse, affectionately nicknamed "Old Barney" in the distance. You can also see that the water in the inlet between the Barnegat Bay and the Atlantic Ocean looks pretty well frozen over! Wow! You'd think that the salt water content at that juncture would have prevented that.
I still have no idea why my father was out there today.

i'm not sure if the pond near me has froze or not..it certainly was cold enough..

I cannot imagine how cold it is there since we don't have winter season in my country. I can only see it in movies about playing in the snow and other stuff but I cannot imagine if I can cope with the cold since my body is in tuned with the tropical season. Do take care always and be safe.
