A refrigeration system at a Trader Joe's store in Kalamazoo Michigan on Wednesday is living proof of the saying "The silver lining in the dark cloud." Trader's Joe's store Captain Daniel Sorscher made the decision to donate 35,000 pounds of food that would have gone to waste to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission to feed the needy people in their place of business on Wednesday. The policy of Trader Joe's is to donate food that is not being used to the needy to feed them in their time of need. Director of Food Service at the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission Greg Weaver said that the 35,000 pounds of food is the largest amount of food that the ministry has received from Trader Joe's in the history of the ministry who assists needy people with food and uplifting the spirits of the people they serve.
