Do you know anything about cactus? Except that it is the word you have to remember for English level test and its plural form is cactuses. The word "cactus" derives from the Ancient Greek words. As I know, cactus lives in extremely dry environments. I like cactus very much, as well as its spines. So when I planted cactus, I told my mother please don’t water it. But when I came back from work after a few months, I found my cactus is dead. Why it was dead? My mother replied to me like this, you said that please don’t water it. Oh, my poor cactus. Cactus can be grown for hardiness with low maintenance. Its flower is beautiful. The photo here is in the yard where I stay for three years, the cactus grows from a small one to more than two meters.

I used to like cactus until I had to take care of lots of cacti. One day, I fell into the pile of them and had to spend a few days pulling out all the tiny thorns/hairs. Ouch that time! Since then, I have avoided cacti cactus at all cost . (everyone laughed seeing me wrestling with the cacti that time, they thought that was so hilarious. The poor me didn't agree with them !)

@fei1125 You poor thing! The ones which I had a wrestling match with, were those tiny cacti in pots. I was taking care of hundreds of pots like that.

Welcome to mylot, I have seen them while traveling, where I live its too cold for them and we can only see them in Green Houses. A green house is a glass house that is heated and they grow all kinds of rare flowers and plants.

You just recently joined myLot? Welcome to myLot, by the way. I don't like cactus. But a colleague gave me one. It's a small cactus in a small pot. At first, i put water on it then placed it in our garden. Then, as day goes by and one by one, the bottom leaves became yellowish and eventually became withered.

If you want to try, it is easy for cactus, because it needs less water and has strong power to be alive.
