Do you know about this scam?

A friend of mine on FB posted a warning that someone is offering free Southwest Airline tickets but if you click on the URL to retrieve them you will be victimized. Here's the link to the full story. If it seems too good to be true it usually is.
Southwest Airlines is not giving away free air travel tickets to those who follow online links.

@rebelann That is scary, but I don't ever believe things like that, but I hope no one else believes it. Thanks for sharing.

It is, especially since those who do seem to believe are the elderly with minimal knowledge of the internet and facebook. You'd be surprised how many elderly fall for those kinds of scams.

@rebelann My daughter's boyfriend had this happen recently to his grandfather. Someone called him and told him his computer has something wrong, I'm not really sure about the details, but he ended up losing 2,000 dollars. It's so sad and pathetic how little regard for other humans that some people have.

That's so sad @misunderstood_zombie I wish there were a way to catch those jerks but usually they are from foreign countries, I've had a couple of them call me thinking they could trick me only in my case I was able to trick them. I no longer connect my email to my cell phone which is how they gained access to information about my computer.

Free Airline tickets, that's not even possible, under any circumstances.

@rebelann Gullible people will believe anything they hear, no matter how obviously false it seems.

As soon as one scam becomes well known another appears to take its place.

It'll be a while before they think up a new one, right now they're probably enjoying what ever that scam was supposed to produce.

Ohhh, is it taking personal information? Free is great, but some things are too good to be true . . . and to be a victim of a scam is never good!

I didn't read the article but a friend of mine made comments about this on FB and warned all of us about it. I don't fly so I wouldn't have been interested but she does and lots of my other friends do as well so I'm posting this everywhere I have friends.

@rebelann We don't fly either . . . but for free tickets I would . But of course I won't go for any scams - don't want to deal with that!

I have the feeling something similar could happen on earning sites many of us use @much2say some hacker could easily put a virus hijacker onto a link on one of our sites.

Me too. The ones that seem to have slowed down a little are the phone scams but there are still a few that happen and it's always targeted to the elderly.

That is sad. I hate scammers and feel bad for people who fall for them. It’s happened to me before.

I agree. Hopefully the powers of FB will find the culprit and nip the fools in the bud.

The same scam is running here...WestJet is supposedly giving each person two free tickets. I go by the assumption...if it sounds too good to be true....it is probably a scam...I just move on.

Nothing good is ever free other than the air we breath.
