It's Just The Way It Is

Idaho State employees went through a class in sexual harrassment today. Severe and unwanted attention is the definition given to sexual harrassment. It can be verbal, physical or even written. I think it is very important for employers to let their employees know what is expected of them on all levels of their job and association with the company. Whether it is in the work environment or social situations. It is just like making the conscious decision of living in a society. We have to live by certain laws and rules. It's just the way it is. Your thoughts....

National Public Radio has had some deeply troubling reports about the mentally disabled being sexually abused seven times more than those with so called smarts. I hope the overbearing women in the office also get with the program and show respect for everyone, too. Years ago I told my boss about a co-worker who suddenly grabbed my shoulder from behind. She didn't mean anything by it but it made me uncomfortable so I talked about it.

I'm glad they took the course. Nobody should harass anybody no matter where it is - work or social.

That's right. And some need to know for sure what the rules of behavior are.

A good friend of mine was a union rep. when I worked at the telephone company. I even went through a strike one year.

Exactly . I always feel there should be a line between you and the world . Maybe not if you know what you are getting into but yes if you want to spare yourself the drama. You never know with people and what they are thinking and what we mean and it works both ways. So the best way is to maintain a healthy distance.
