Talk about being at the right place at the right time. Kori Melanfant, 29 who had brain surgery four days earlier in New York City and relatives took a train ride from New York City to Boston. The plan was to take the next train from Bostonto their home in Maine but fate threw them a curve ball on the way to Maine. The train that was supposed to take the Melanfant family from Boston to Maine left five minutes earlier which left the Melanfant family stranded in freezing weather. When the relatives of Lori asked a Boston police officer where they could stay in a warm place until the next train that would take them to Maine, Boston Captain Kelley McCormick decided to offer his services to take the Melanfant family to their home in Maine since it was too cold for them to stay at a train station in Boston until the next train came. The Melanfant family accepted the gesture of goodwill from Captain McCormick to take them in his police car to their home in Portland Maine which is about two hours. What this story really great was that Captain McCormick was able to come to Boston in time to work on his detail at the TD Garden on time after he did his great deed for a family in need.

You are correct since Captain McCormick went beyond the call of duty traveling from Boston to Portland and back to assist someone in need.
