Do long-forgotten childhood memories ever come back to you in a flash?

It happens to me now and again. I was in the bathroom this morning, when I suddenly remembered a time my mom had a female guest over. They were in the living room, near the fireplace. I must have been about 4-years-old.
I wanted some attention, so I adjusted the fire place screen. My mom said something about me "showing off" my abilities but didn't ask me to sit next to and join in the conversation. I was disappointed and left the room. That's all I remember.
Does that kind of thing ever happen to you?

Memory flashbacks occur more and more frequently as I get older.

@TheHorse There something I remember, but I was not a kid, I was 17. My boyfriend went to visit, he was sitting in my parents living room, I approached and sit on his knee. My Mom gave me "the look" and a chair. I did something wrong I suppose.

It happens for now and then. But why would that come in your life now?

@TheHorse Yeah! Just like the mixture of different juices, sour and sweet!

Yes. I recall certain situations from my childhood quite often.

@celticeagle It's strange that many of my memories are around times that the "grown-ups" misunderstood what I was trying to say or do. Maybe certain things are unresolved, and remain in memory, awaiting resolution.

I have those a lot from all parts of my childhood, complete with conversations.

@TheHorse Strange, huh. Are those about "unresolved conflicts?" I suspect some of mine are.

Yeah, happens all the time to me. Today i was visiting my grandparents and during a talk i remembered a neighbor there who always misspelled the names of the other neighbors. My grandparents never noticed that on this lady and when i told them they were all smiling remembering her.

Yes, I have some very vivid memories of my childhood, in bits and pieces. I remember way back, when I was only about 2 1/2 years old, breaking the buds off our mother's flowers. It just sticks in my mind, from that far back.

It happens to me all the time, though my childhood wasn't that far away, a lot of nonsense happened but it is fun when a happy memory appears at random.

Yup. Everytime. I always remember my childhood friend. Like how we used to play in their backyard.
